Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Black lines on the right side

I have had this same issue, and the people at HP keep telling me it's an application problem. I've never had the issue before I installed the HP LJ 1020. Down the side of any page with any graphics, you get what look like line markers. I have tried reinstalling the drivers multiple times, and reinstalling MS Office 2003, and still the same issue. This issue does not exist with an HP OJ 6110, which I had before. I even had the LJ 1020 replaced, to see if it was just that printer that was defective, but the new printer still had the same issue. My solution is to buy something other than HP LaserJet 1020. And the tech staff at HP were completely UNHELPFUL. They just kept insisting it was not the printer, and it so obviously WAS.

SOURCE: HP LaserJet 1020 Prints a Black Line when at the right side when using Ms Word 2007

First, you need to try update the latest microsoft office patch file from microsoft or you can open the MS Word, go to "HELP" menu select the update MS Word or related. Try the latest patch file first. You also can try windows update and select custom update, see their list have this problem solution or not. Second, you need to go to HP website download latest driver for LJ1020 and suitable use on Vista. Lastly, if still not solve the problem, you need this problem/issue to microsoft, ask their solutions. Kent

SOURCE: Black lines on the right side

The vertical black line at the right-hand side of the page when the printed document includes an image is a problem with all currently available HP Laserjet 1018, 1020 and 1022 drivers. While waiting for HP to fix the problem (they haven't even acknowledged it yet in their webpage) you can bypass it thus: a) Click on the 'Properties' button. b) Click on 'Finishing' and select 'FastRes1200' (this makes the line narrower). c) Click on 'Basics' and select 'Rotated', i.e. printing the page from bottom to top (this elliminates the line completely, in combination with 'b' above). This is a home-made solution I found after numerous trial-and-error attempts and having downloaded several drivers from the web. As a token respect to all of us who have paid money to buy these printers, I hope HP will soon recognize and solve the problem.

SOURCE: vertical black line down right side

Did you carefully inspect all through the paper path for some fuzz, or a small piece of paper smearing the print?
The other issue would be the fuser. Do you see any reprinting of images or letters in that area?
What you can do is set the machine to print 2 or more pages and open a cover or turn off the power to jam the prints in the machine. See if the line is on the drum or not. If not then you have a fuser roller issue which would require replacing the fuser.

My HL2040 printer is printing black vertical lines along the right-hand side of the page, about 3" or so. A month ago I took it apart and cleaned the roller. Still doing it.

If the lines go all the way down the page, check the position of the corona wire cleaner tab (blue or green) at the top front of the drum unit. if not parked fully to one side it will create a solid black lines where it blocks the laser. Otherwise look for some other foreign object (or torn paper piece) that may be blocking the laser from the drum. If the lines are thin and shark, check for scratches on the drum (not repairable without replacing drum). If the lines are uneven thickness but in a pattern that repeats down the page every few inches, then the film on the drum is probably worn or wearing away and the drum needs to be replaced.

I have a grey/black line all the way down the right hand side of the page

Run a half test.
Put paper in the manual feed tray.
Print something, anything
When the paper is 1/2 way into the printer, open the cover.
Pull out the toner cartridge. Look down at the paper.
Does it have a black line on the right side?
If yes, replace the cartridge. If no, replace the fuser.
