Question about Zonet 4-port KVM Switch

Open Question

We understand that your problem is: I bought a KVM3324 and connected it to 3 computers, two running XP and one running Win7. Worked fine with wired keyboard. When I put on a Microsoft 3000v2 wireless keyboard, I can't get it to work. Seemed to for a while, now it doesn't seem to see the HotKey characters; before I got a beeping when it saw them even if it didn't respond to them. Now I get nothing. Now even hard keys on switch froze. Had to unplug USB from one of computers to get it to change. Any ideas?

Trouble printing from wired connections but wireless users are working fine

Its possible that in ap mode it cant handle wired and wireless and that the wired connection takes priority of the only available ip address, thus the wireless cards cant get an ip and so cant connect.

of course that could be b*****s but you never know.

yes i know you said it works fine when using xp pro so maybe the router doesnt release the ip correctly with win7.

any chance of installing a wifi card from one of the xp machines into the win7 machine just to test it?

can you test connecting one of the xp machines with wired and see if the other can connect using wireless?

So please You will have to reboot your router and all the wireless XP systems, while the Win 7 system is off. You may have to reboot the router once in a while. Not the most elegant solution, but this is the only way my XP systems with wireless would work.

Drivers HP scanjet 4400c for windows 7

This worked for me:
Do NOT connect scanner before these first few steps
1. Download & save win xp drivers from HP website: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=28447&prodTypeId=15179&prodSeriesId=28441&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=228
The 63.4mb file is the only one you'll need
2. Right-click on the saved file and go to its properties. Under the compatibility tab, set the file to run with win xp service pack 3. Apply changes and close properties dialogue.
3. Right click on the same file and choose 'run as administrator'. Accept any windows prompts that may appear and let the program & drivers install.
4. Once the software has finished installing, connect the scanner to your computer (via USB) and turn the scanner on.
5. Restart the computer without unplugging or turning the scanner off.
6. Your scanner should now work fine with the HP Precisionscan Pro utility.

The warnings worked with XP. Changed to Win 7 and now I get no warnings. Printer not printing and I cannot find why or see status of toners.

The warnings were provided by the Epson Status Monitor in XP. In Windows 7, you have a basic printer driver that doesn't include this monitor. Since the error lights do not give sufficient details as to the problem with consumables, it doesn't help much.

You could try to install the XP driver in Win7 using the compatibility mode. To try this, first uninstall the printer and disconnect the data cable (USB) then restart the computer. Download the driver from http://tech.epson.com.au/downloads/category.asp?sCategory=Laser&id=alc900&SelOS=Y (select XP 64-bit if you have Win7 64-bit) and right click on the installer. Then choose Properties and then the Compatibility tab. Turn on Run program as Compatible with the appropriate OS. Then right click again on the installer and choose Run as Administrator.

I do not know if this will work. A method that will work is to use a computer (virtual, dual-boot, or true second machine) with an older version of Windows installed. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate, you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install them in order. Then install the XP software from the above site in the virtual computer and connect the printer and it will work. Please note that the printer will have to be removed from the Win7 devices list for this to work. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.) All of the other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS. Also note that the virtual computer can't share files directly with the main computer. You'll need to save files to external or removable media (optical media or flash drive, for example) to share them.

I hope this helps.

Two toshiba laptops, one less than a year old running win7...the other 3 yrs old runnign xp. both worked fine connecting wireless to my router sat. sun the win7 machine said the dns server was not...

Did you press a button (or move a slider-switch) on the WIN7 laptop, to "disable" the wireless adapter?

Can you login to the web-server "inside" the wireless router, and look at the "log-files" that the router keeps of "recent" events (such as connection-attempts from wireless devices), to see if there is any useful information in those logs?

Does the WIN7 laptop connect to _any_ wireless network (Starbucks, university, shopping mall), or does it fail ONLY when connecting to your wireless router?

Have you tried a "factory-reset" on your router, just in case that it might be the problem?

I bought keyboardworks v1.1 it worked fine for my old xp computer. Now I switched to windows 7 and it does not work. Any fixes?

Since this software was designed to work with Windows XP or earlier. It may not run in windows 7 normally, but you can run this application in Compatibility mode.

Windows 7 comes with Program Compatibility troubleshooter, using which you can run older programs in compatibility mode.
To run the Program Compatibility troubleshooter

1. Open the Program Compatibility troubleshooter by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel.

2. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting.

3. Under Programs, click Run programs made for previous versions of Windows.

4. This would scan the computer for incompatible applications and list them, keyboardworks .

5. Click next. this will try running in Windows XP mode.

6. If sucessful save the setting and u should be good to go, else try installing this application in Compatibility mode.

7. right-click choose properties on setup.exe

8. click on compatibility tab. put a check on run this program compatibility mode for and choose windows XP

9. put a check on run this program has administrator. cluick apply and ok and install this application.

10. run the application, if it does not work repeat the steps 1-6.

I have an American Greetingts CreataCard program I bought several years ago. Just tried to download it on my Windows 7 computer and it said it was not compatible. When I had it on my old computer it was...

There may be a workaround or two. First, Win7 wants a different installer. Try running the installer in a Compatability mode (right click on the exe, choose properties, click on the Compatability tab and put a check in the box for run this program in the compatability mode, use the drop down to choose the latest OS that you know will run the program, then right click again on the program and choose run as administrator). If your new computer uses 64-bit Win7, this is even less likely to work. Microsoft needs signed files in 64-bit. Do the same compatability with the program if it installs.

If that doesn't work, try installing a virtual computer with an OS that runs the program in your Win7 machine (The free XP mode is available in Win7 Pro and Ultimate. It takes two downloads from Microsoft to install the computer and then install the program as if the XP mode was the only computer.)

Otherwise, upgrade the program. (The Microsoft compatability center gives information pending on the program.)

I hope this helps.

Nightmare ned CD/ROM

This software was released long before Win7 was being worked on. Thus it isn't going to work directly in Win7; Microsoft has changed a lot in the OS. However, with a bit of work and either Win7 Pro or Ultimate, there is a workaround. Install the XP mode program from Microsoft (it's a two download process) and create a virtual computer inside your main computer. You should be able to install and run the game within the virtual computer.

I hope this helps.
