There is a very very easy way to fix this problem..

This can happen if...
1.) If the battery dies when the camera lens is open (and you close it manually, or sometimes, even if you dont.)
2.) If you used a AC adapter with too much voltage or not enough. (this can happen even if you used the correct voltage, refrain from using AC adapters at all)
... all together its ethier a voltage or camera lens problem...

TIPS:
1.)NEVER PUSH THE LENS IN AFTER CAMERA DIES, BUY A NEW BATTERY IMMEDIATLY AND TURN IT BACK ON, CLOSING THE LENS!

2.)NEVER USE AN AC ADAPTER, USE A RECHARGEABLE BATTERY OR A REGULAR BATTERY!

..to fix this...

Do as i say..

1.) Remove battery
2.) Remove front plate (screw driver may be needed)
3.) Check all gears, make sure they are correctly fitted in place)
4.) Move the gear manually to make the lens come out.
5.) keep it out, put the front plate back together.
6.) reinsert the battery, turn it on.

or...
1.) Remove the battery.
2.) Wait about 6-8 hours.
3.) Reinsert the battery.

or...
1.) Remove the battery.
2.) Try hooking it up through AC adapter, put correct voltage.
3.) Try turning it on.
4.) Remove AC adapter, reinsert battery.
5.) Turn it on.

Hopefully all this information helped,

The camera may require manually opening the shoot lense to achieve flash to capture pictures. Observe the camera buttons for every complementary buttons that may require activation prior to photo shoots. Usually smaller cameras with lenses may require manual lense adjustments prior to every photo shoot.

I own a sony cybershot dsc w35 when i switch on the screen displays "turn the power off and on again" help?

Hi. I had exactly the same problem with my Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W7. The problem started after while lense was fully open, the battery became 100% empty. I did not have access to new batteries and did not have my charger with me so I put the camera on my car seat and went home. After charging the batteries, I turned the camera Off and the lense retracted 100%. Later on I tried to transfer some pictures to my PC. After connecting the camera to my PC with the dial in the P position and lense fully open I turned the dial to play in order to transfer photos. After transferring the pictures, I turned the camera off and disconnected from the computer.

I turn the camera on to take new pictures next day, The lense would go up, and and turn with lense fully open. It would never close. The screen was black with a message "Turn the camera on and off again". I tried 30 times or more and the same thing would happen again.

Here is what I did to fix my camera and it has been working normally since then.

1- I cleaned around the outside of the lense with lent free cloth

2- I used dust OFF to get raid of the remaining small dust particles from around the lense.

3- While turning the camera off, I pushed (down, up and turn) the lense in (NOT TOO Hard) by my hand. If you push the lense too hard, you may damage the mechanicall moving parts of the lense.

4- After a few tries, the lense retracted 90% +. I then pushed the lense a little harder all the way in, the way it normall retracts. The lense cover also closed 100%.

5- I turned the Camera on and off a few times. It was opening and closing exactly the way it used to. My Cybershot has been working okay since then.

I read a lot and here is what cause my lense to malfunction.

While lense was fully open and battery died, some small particles got on the lense and prevented lense from fully opening or closing.

In summery: two things could have caused your camera lense to malfunction.

1- if you had dropped your camera hard, some mechanical parts may have got damaged or dislocated. In this case you have to open the lense and replace the damaged part, clean and put it back on the camera. This is too risky for most ordinary people. You would most likely make it WORST.

2- If you did not drop it, most likly, some how some small dust particles got on the outside of the lense and they prevent the lense or the lense cover from fully opening and closing. If this is your case, please follow exactly what I did and your camera would be back to normal.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lens will not extend

Hi:

You need to clean around the lense first. Blow high pressure air spray and get the most sand out of the lense you possibly can.

If it did not open 100%, try to pull it out NOT too hard. If the lese goes up and down and turns you should follow the lense while pulling it out.

When it is 100% out, (the way normally opens) Clean around the lense more.

Turn you camera on and off a few times. It should be back to normal.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I turn on my DSC W55 the lens does not open all the way. Is better to fix it or buy a new camera?

It usually cost more to repair digital cameras than investing in a brand new one. Before you decide to trash your camera and buy a new one try this.

Some dirt somhow gets on the outside of the lense and they would prevent the lense from opening or closing 100% as it normally does.

Clean around the lense and turn your camera off and on a few times. If the lense opened out 100%, you should be able to take pictures as you usually did. If NOT

turn on the camera and help the lense to open up by pulling the lense out NOT too hard. If the lense goes up and down you follow the lense motion (up and down and turn). If the lense opened up 100%, then turn the camera on and off a few times, it may work now.

If you have dropped the camera, some mechanical part of the lense mechanism is broken or disslocated. In that case, the lense has to be opend from the camera, inspect for broken parts or loose parts, and clean it up. If you put it back on the camera, it may work. Remember opening the lense is the absolute last thing you want to do. Most likely, you would make it worse than, before opening it.

If you decided to buy a new one and trash this camera, please send the camera to me. I will pay to you ONLY your shipping cost. I would try to fix it and learn more about the problem your lense have. I would be able to help the next person with the same problem better. my email address pourmp@yahoo.com.

GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!

Lens are stuck out. screen says "lens error"

There could be two things causing this problem.

1- some dirt somehow got on the outside of side of the lense. So the lense could not fully retract or open out. As a result you can not take any picture. If the lense comes out even a little bit, try to pull it out NOT too hard a few times. If it does not retract, turn the camera off and push the lense in (up and down) NOT too hard for a few times. If the camera opened up 100% or retracted 100%, your camera should be back to normal. Make sure to clean the outside of the lense when fully open and keep it clean always. If this did not help, read 2.

2- If you dropped the camera, some mechanical part of the lense is broken or dislocated or the cable may have come loose. In this case you need to take out the lense from the camera and inspect it for broken pieces or loose cable. clean the outside of the lense and push the lense in and out a few times. Put the lense back on the camera and your camera would be back to normal.

Good luck!!!!!!

When i turn on the camera the lens wont pop open even when the battery is fully charged.... i was taking pictures and it working fine turn the camera off and on again then the lens wont open anymore? i can...

The problem is
1- some dirt somehow got on the outside of the lense. After it was retracted fully in, it prevents the camera from opening again. When you turn it on, if it opens a little bit, try to pull it out NOT too hard and let go a few times. If it opened, clear the outside of the lense. Your camera should be back to normal.
2- If you droped the camera, you probably damaged or dislocated a mechanical part of the lense. You may have to take out the lense by unscrewing it and inspect it for damged parts or disconnected cable. Make sure clean the lense and test it by moving it in and out a few times, before puting it back on the camera.

Good luck!!!!!!!

My camera is Canon PowerShot SD870 IS. after i turned it on and the lenses goes outward as it should be but remained there even if i turned of the the power. i should mention it used to work properly.

That is lense trauma. I can be caused by dirt or lense being hit or zolted while open. Canons are strong cameras but if it make a grinding noise when the lense is trying to go back into the camera it most likely needs repair. try blowing the lens out with a hurricane blower or forced air. If the lense is tilted to one side even slightly no amount of forced air will help. good luck!

Casio Digital Camera ex-s770 will not open

Hi, this is a problem alot of people get having with this type of camera.
It could be one of a couple of things first check the battery is fully charges as a faulty battery would cause this problem, do you have a switch on the camera that lets you see the pictures stored on it without opening the lense, not all makes and models do this some have switch you can slide and some is just push button the push button you cant do this.
So if yours is the push button one then the only thing to try if the battery isnt the problem is looking and removing anything thats caught in the side of lense.
Ok try removing battery and any mem cards if you have any in it then bang the camera firmly into the palm of your hand sort of shocking the camera to dislodge any thing thats stuck in the side of lense do this few times then replace battery and switch on usually this solves the problem.
If not then when you switch camera on grab the lense and help it come out taking it past where it gets stuck be gentle try this few times and see if camera comes on.
Once the lense is passed certain point the camera should come on.
So give that a try it does sound like something is jamming the lense so try pulling it out gently only do it when its supposed to be coming out when it trys to go back in let go again try this few times.
Failing this then the problem could be that either the camera has been put down with the lense open and forced the lense motor damaging it or the other thing that people tend to do is switch camera on acidently whilst its in pocket or case so that it switches on but the lense is blocked from coming out this causing damage to lense motor.
If the problem is in fact the lense motor then their is no way of getting this repaired they just dont repair these and you cant get the parts like lense motor no camera shop will even look at them as you cant get parts and also price of repair would cost more than replacing the camera.
Also check to see if your lense turns round as its coming in or out if it does this then try turning the lense as its coming out.
Let me know how you get on ok and ill try assist you further
