Scanner Creates a Very LARGE PDF file 1.8 meg for one page

The outpout of the Scan Function using LEXMARK All in One software is too large. I have tried lowering the scanner DPI count and it is a little smaller but the file is still too large. Anybody solved this problem?

I have exactly the same problem. Other people send me a small pdf file. I print it out, and then sign and scan it using Lexmark All in One. It then turns into a HUGE pdf file. How to make it smaller? (I cannot make it a jpg file - has to be in pdf format).

You are right - flatbed 1.08 MB and feeder = 25.8 MB - still too large but really weird and LEXMARK has NO SOLUTION!

I just bought a Lexmark 5495 for scanning purposes. One page scan with no graphics is 2 megs !!! It was scanned to us and was only 14 kb.
Used 75 as dpi lowest setting.

Also a 14 page contract (black/white 75 dpi-no graphics) which we bought machine to do turns out to be 21 megs. Other people have pdfed same item to us and less than 1 meg. How can I resolve? Making it jpeg does not work.

When i scanned a 2-page text document using productivity suite's "scan to pdf", it created a 48 MB file which is way larger than it should be, and much too large to send via e-mail. any...

You can try to update your printer driver by downloading the Lexmark X7170 driver from the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/fWPweq. Select your operating system, download and execute the file.
You can also try to decrease the scan resolution. Launch Lexmark All-In-One Center application on your computer. Select Scan mode > See More Scan Settings > lower the scan resolution value to 200 or 150 dpi. Note: This will decrease the scan file size and affect the scan output.
Or you can use a third party scan software to decrease scan file size. You can search the web for free scan softwares.

Hi, when I scan a document through the feeder in the top of my laser jet 3055 it creates individual pdf's for each page. I know it is possible to have one pdf for the entire document but not sure...

Yes, it is possible, all you need to do is one of two things:

One is use the feeder, that inherently knows multiple copies.

Or use the HP scanner software, (installed on each computer) and add a page.

One detail to watch is the size of the file. it gets quite large easily and certainly with multiple pages.....meaning you cannot e-mail the file sometimes...

Reset your output resolution for your document in the 100 to 150 range. Higher resolutions may be needed for some documents, but not most. This keeps the file size usable with a smaller file size.

Unable to save a scanned document to a PDF file. I am using Lexmark X5650

when you scan a page, the scanned image is now a photograph and can't be converted to a PDF, if you want a PDF you need to scan test in and have the scanner software convert it to text.

Please help... when i scan more than 10 docs and then try to attach it to an email, it states that the file is too large ... please help me with my Lexmark X4270

You should setup the scan resolution to a lot less.
Scanned images can take a lot of space it scanned at high resolution and with many colors.
If it is a document, you can set it to scan black and white or gray and instead of the default resolution (300dpi) you should try scanning at 75dpi or 100dpi.
Those settings can reduce a scanned image to few ks instead of 10s of megs.

The average mail systems can't handle mail messages larger than 10Mb.

I would also suggest playing with the scanner to get the best results before trying to mail the scanned documents.

yes in your scan setting select scan type in there you will see compact pdf. That will make a 10 meg file be 900k even if it is color.

Lexxmark x8350 PDF file is to big

I would start by looking at the actual data size of the file.

Next step, I would determine is the flow control between the printer and the PC is working correctly.

If the file is very large or intensive (lots of graphic images), I would break the file into several segments.

For example, pages one to five I would highlight and then do a "Save As" and name the new file as filename1.pdf.

Once the file is saved that way, I would move to page six and do a "Save As" filename6.PDF and so on until I have broken the file into more useful segments.

If you have the file and can send it to me at don.farr@hotmail.com, I'll be happy to see if I can structure the file for you.

Go to scanner options, settings

Please change the resolution, set it to 75.

also please check if the setting set to original size x 2 or anything.

It should be original size also.

Cheers

Scanning files to large

It's the resolution you are using to scan. Try a lower setting. for documents, 150-200 dpi is fine. That will produce smaller files.

Scan file from Lexmark 6100 is very large

If the documents you are scanning are black and white, make sure you are selecting that in the scanner dialogue box. If you need to keep gradiants, but don't need color, try selecting grayscale. If you are adjusting your DPI (dots per inch) to the maximum (300), try using something lower (recommend 150). Lastly, check the settings in the software you use to create PDFs to ensure they are the same as what you use at the office.

Scanner DPI issues

well..that's fine, but the virtual memory dance, is not just about size(which we all know is not the only issue, right)?..smiling.

at any rate, you'll need to allocate the VM to this function through your admin panel. You familiar with that?
