Hello, if this is a OEM disc you can use the 25 digit key printed in the windows sticker in your computer. If you have a retail version of windows what you can do is call microsoft and explain that you have lost your product code. They normally will give you another one, but will ask for proof of purchase. Hope, this helps

At power on, enter the bios (usually by tapping a function key like Tab or Del or F2) and change the boot device order to have the CD drive first. Put the disc in the disc drive. Save and continue. Now, you may get a message asking you to "press any key to boot to the CD". Touch any key, and the reload should start.

As you have installed a new component into your computer system, Windows is asking you to reload/reactivate Windows.

Do the following;
1.)Enter the BIOS/CMOS, by pressing the delete key/F12 key during start up.
2,)Find and select the option for loading default settings.
3.)Now Exit Saving changes.

Your computer will now boot on settings that it feels are appropriate, this may please Windows and get your computer system up and running again!

All the best!

My 13 year old son laptop need be reset like new

There are a couple possible solutions to your problem. If the computer will still turn on and load windows, and I assume you are using Windows XP, you can try doing a system restore. To do this, go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and select System Restore. If system restore is enabled, you should be able to choose a date in the past when the laptop was working properly and restore the computer to that date. If you want to completely reload windows, you will need a Windows XP installation disc. Load the disc in the CD or DVD player and reboot the computer. You should see a screen asking you to press any key to boot from CD, go ahead and press Enter. You will now enter setup where you can reformat the hard drive and reload windows XP. Follow the on-screen instructions to delete any old partitions, and then create a new partition and format it using NTFS. The windows XP installation will continue after the hard drive is formatted. If, when you reboot the computer with the installation disc in the drive, you are not prompted to boot from CD, you may need to reboot and press F2 or F12 to change the boot selection to the CD or DVD drive so it will load the CD first before it tries to load your original Windows installation.

I had bought the game Sims 3 when it had first come out and I had moved losing the book. I have a new computer, but no activation code. What should I do to upload the game to my new computer

I would suggest contacting Maxis and explaining your loss. They'll probably ask you some identifying questions, and may ask for the CD/Box or what not, and charge you a few dollars to send you a new product key/disc.

Good Luck!

If the HD test failed you may need to replace the hard drive and reload the operating system. If you don't have the disks you will have to purchase a new copy of the OS. If you have the product key you might be able to use someone's copy of Windows and use your own Key.

Windows program shut down Laptop problem model-no-XPS M1530

As with any blue screen, this is an operating system error in which a driver or program has overstepped it's boundries by writing into an unauthorized section of the memroy, therefore causing the memory dump. You will need to run a system repiar or reload with your recovery disc or operating system disc in order to cure the problem. Start with the repair, if the rogue still persists, then you will need to wipe the hard drive and reload the operating system.

Won't boot into Windows

With this problem you will have to do either a repair or reload of the operating system, and it could still be that the hard drive is beginning to fail, you won't know this until you try the repair/reload. You will have to use either a Dell disc or a Windows operating system disc. If you use a disc designed for, say, a Gateway system it will load, but it will only give you a temporary or trial system usually anywhere from a week to thirty days, then it will either shut down or ask for an authorization code or product key, I've tried. If you have any trouble finding a disc, you can contact me at pyrhyc@yahoo.com, I sell valid copies of both the Dell disc for $25 or Windows XP Pro with service pack 2 for $40 at my shop.

Blue screen

The blue screen indicates either an operating system error that will need either a system repair or reload using the system recovery disc or an operating system disc, or it indicates a hard drive failure, in which you will need a new hard drive. Start by trying a system repair, then reload if the repair doesn't work. If the machine has issues during or after the repair/reload, then it's the hard drive. The blue screen should have an error code. Sometimes it's helpful if you list the error code, it could tell us exactly which it is. I won't be back until tomorrow, but if you want to try the repair/reload tonight, and if it doesn't work let me know and I'll see if I can tell you what the code means.

At the very least, I would take it into best buy and ask that if it was under warranty, if they could try to get Aero to work while you are there. They may be able to point you in the right direction.
