Not knowing which monitor that you have I will have to be a bit general. If the cable disconnects from the back of the monitor then you can simply replace the cable with another vga cable. If the cable does not disconnect then my best advice is to look at the other end of the cable and get the pin out from the controller board on that end. Unfortunately that procedure would require opening up the monitors case.
The above link will also help as a reference. However keep in mind that some of the colors may not match. Which is why you would need to check the other end of the cable to be sure. Good luck.
