Question about InFocus IN72 Multimedia Projector

2 Answers

Dear support. My system has worked fine for 12 months but occasionally I get a series of vertical lines down the left half of the screen. After a lot of plugging in and out for no apparent reason it then works again. Then last night no picture except the INfocus main screen but no picture from any device. It sounds like it could be the 10m HDMi cable I have. Any thoughts mike

Thankyou but I am not using a laptop and the system has been fine for 12 months. I do use a multi function remote that at times gets itself confused and may switch projector on second. Is it important it goes on first even with blu Ray and media box. Not using with PC or laptop Ty

Ty but perhaps I am not clear I am using a complicated programmable remote with self repair it remains in a charge bay when not in use. I am thinking it's self repair may have created a situation where projector is not first component to come on. What do you think

A cable can always be bad, true. The best way to check that is to get another one, of course. I agree with you, since it makes sense...horizontal lines from intermittency, then it connected and worked, and then it didn't. If you can bend the wires at the broken point in the cable (usually near the plugs), you might be able to cut the bad wiring out and jury-rig a fix, if for no other reason than pinpointing the problem. I have fixed bad power supply cords, and a few headphone wires, but sometimes it's tricky since they're thin and coated with lacquer, to keep them from shorting out.
It's possible that you have a bad component in the power circuit, also, so try to check that out in case the cable doesn't fix it.
Also, I ran across a blog that mentioned someone having a power cord problem, so here's what they said (scroll down a bit to find it):

Good luck, hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.

Hello,

Upon setting up your equipment it is very important that you turn on the projector first. You will see a blank projection image, now turn on the computer, (confirm your cables are connected properly). When using a lap top computer you may need to disable your computer's display screen. First locate the "function" key at the top of your keypad that reads "LCD", "CRT" or it may have an icon that resembles a computer monitor. By pressing the "FN" key and the corresponding "function" key you will be able to obtain the image from the projector only. This is known as "toggling" the image. If the problem still persist, replace the 10m HDMi cable.

Take care.

    Hello,

Yes, it is important. Weak or dead batteries can cause numerous problems with a remote control.
To maximize the life of the batteries take them out when the projector is not in
use. Some projector remotes come with an "on-off" switch for the remote itself
(not to be confused with the power button for the projector) turn the remote off
when not in use. You should have a clear line of sight between the remote control
and the projector's inferred receiver. Any obstructions will interfere with the
projector's ability to pick up the remote's signal.

Dell Latitude D505 half of screen is black with colored vertical lines.

Sounds like you have a section of dead pixels. This can happen if the laptop has been dropped a lot or stepped on or some type of impact on the laptop. This is a hardware issue. You will need to have the screen replaced. In my opinion, by the age of the laptop, its better off getting a new one.

Check its T'Con board and its connections. Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for more details. Click this link. sounds to me like a broken lcd screen. Check if it works on external monitor, if it does the problem is your screen. If it is the same on an external monitor then the fault is with the onboard graphics card. This should be fixed under warranty

I have the same issue. Bought the TV 1/08 and it started showing those exact symptoms about 3-4 months ago. It generally progresses and gets worse. You can try to fix it as it's some kind of TAB connector issue, or keep calling Sony so that the 52" owners of the XBR4 and 5 series get the extended warranty just like the 46" owners received for the same series. If enough of us keep calling, they'll have to act.

Horizontal lines obstructing the second half of the ti 83 calculator screen, anyone know repair tips?

I had the same prob with vertical lines on the screen, and getting messed up when there was lots of numbers on the screen.

Solution: Change your batteries. Put some freshies in then adjust your contrast until you see the little black box. If you still have a problem with the lines, darken the screen until it's black (2nd up repeatedly) and let it sit for a couple minutes. Lighten your screen back to normal (2nd down) and turn off then turn her back on.
