If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed HP and other monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Laydeetea021, Do some reading if you are into DIY repair. Try this first: http://www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solutoin/ If unit performs same way (symptom) when connected to a "known-good" pc, then monitor will need refurbishment or you will trade in for new wide screen 2010 model. Tell me what you think after doing research. 12fixlouie

My HP Touchsmart IQ804 PC won't turn on. A few led lights go on, I know it's getting power, but nothing but black screen.

do you have the vga or hdmi cable plugged into the correct video output on the p.c. Some P.C's have a video output on the motherboard that could be disabled due to a VGA adapter card being added and the output comes from the card rather than the VGA adapter and plug socket on the motherboard..

Try totally disconnecting the monitor and reboot your system.
Disconnecting the VGA connections.
After the system reboots, plug the monitor in and power on and reconnect the VGA connection.

HP vs17 (PK657AA) problem: the image is displayed for 3 seconds

first try entering VGA mode in the startup menu. u can get the startup menu by pressing the F8 key immediately after the POST screen. if the screen stabilizes try changing the resolution to 1024 by 768 which should work in normal mode. if that doesnt work then the monitors internal bulbs may be burnt. an electrician may fix this problem for you.

Hi, my screen just randomly turned pink im wonderi...

Check all the pins on the VGA cable, also try it on another PC to make sure it is not the PC that is causing the problem. Hopefully it will not be bad lamps.

Power light on flashing but no screen

Hello.

There is either a problem with your monitor, VGA cable or PC's video connector. Try another PC or another monitor to narrow down your problem.

If another monitor works, swap the VGA cable on your old monitor.

If another monitor doesn't work, your video connector is faulty.

Hope this helps.

Samsung Sync Master 914 has no picture. When power supply is only in, green light flashes slowly. When both power and vga are in, green light flashes more quickly. I hear a faint clicking sound coming...

I would check the caps with ohm meter. Make sure they all show increasing resistance. Caps can be bad without looking bad. Check output voltage on the power board, should be around 12V. If all that checks out then I'd look next at the backlight bulb. I'v repaired many monitors and the problem was almost always overheated caps on the power board. Post back and let me know.

Monitor screen goes black

try booting the computer in safemode you can do this by pressing f8 continuously when the computer is booting until a menu comes up select safemode. If this is unsuccessful then the monitor has a physical issue.
