SOURCE: Acer AL175 TFT monitor is coming on but its very dim

The screen itself is starting to go bad which is why your having to turn up the brightness to 100% just to see something. Replacing the screen would cost more then the whole lcd monitor itself so its best to get a new one.

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

I left monitor power on for about 2 months .when i finally noticed, it was off and wont turn on

rixwar, How many more hours of on time in addition to the approximate 1500 hrs (60 days) does this monitor have? I should guess that any monitor that fails before 4000 or 5000 hrs should be still covered by warranty. Maybe I'm lucky. My 16 yr old 32' tv is still operating after 20K -25K hrs on it. But then again it's a crt not a CCFL backlit lcd display.
You may need to repair AL1511 "switch-mode-power-supply"/"inverter circuit" in this one. Read more of my and other tech's FIXYA profiles on what to do about black or black and blank lcd monitors and for other options open to you. 12fixlouie.
