If you have already tried disconnecting AC from the wall to force a reset, then your power supply is defunct.

If it is a systme built witnhin the last 10 years by eMachines, it will use a standard format supply.

Bought from a local store, they may try to rip you off since this kind of commodity supply can be had for well under $20US on eBay, less right now - http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-400W-Power-Supply-fo-BESTEC-ATX-300-12E-eMachine-PC_W0QQitemZ250242542239QQihZ015QQcategoryZ3670QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The pictured supply is 99% likely to be the form factor you need and the supply you currently have is probably less capable than the one offered.

If you choose to do this yourself (it's easy with a little attention) you might want to take a digital photo of cable routing and placement in case you get confused.

Have the power supply replaced. It is a very simple procedure. I would recommend buying an 80+ model which is very efficient.

Powerup problems

you should not leave PC on for more than a couple days.

It may have gone into Hibernate and if there is a bad sector, (i.e. read errors,) when that is loaded into RAM, then that can cause many symptoms. Try to boot into Safe Mode, then if that works, Restart and use Normal mode.

That is a video failure. What hardware changes did you make prior to the issue?

My Dell Dimension E521 won't start up and has a flashing 3,4 code.

Can you check your bios page on startup? Do you see anything on the screen when you first powerup? If you see nothing and only get the flashing lights you may need a power supply.

You may also have a bad HD or perhaps loose memory chips.

You can start by checking the bios for an installed hard drive and memory. If you see those and then it stops booting. Check the power supply.

Powerspec PC 7114, will not powerup by pressing the on button on front of unit?

Do you have a toggle switch on the power supply at the back of the unit? You may have inadvertently turned it off, try toggling it in the other direction.
If that does not work, you may have a dead powersupply or even a dead connection to your on/off button on thee front of the case.

Won't powerup

Hello, problem could be power supply. But in certain cases it could be other components as well. Can you give more detail regarding this problem, like for example if you hear beeps when you switch on PC or if power supply fan starts up for a second and stops again. Also check if RAM and VGA card are slotted correctly in the PCI connectors. Reseat again if necessary.

I'm trying to reassemble my compaq presario 7598 after exchanging hard drives yet I can't get it work, system want powerup at all.

When you installed the ribbon cable to the hard drive, did you make sure that the ribbon cable and the side with the red line on the cable is connected to PIN1 on the hard drive and the motherboard. If it is connected wrong it can keep the computer from starting. Also, did you make sure that you have the cd-drive and hard drive on master and slave? If you need more help on this, let me know.

Emachine wont start, just beeps

This is probably a problem with your DIMM(RAM) Did u recently install an extra RAM?If yes then remove it because the beep sound is due to the mismatch of frequency of two DIMM's. If not open your computer and check if the DIMM is loose just push it in and powerup your comp..Let me know if its fixed..
