The brush block wasn't made to take apart and clean. The whole block will come out, it just cames catches that hold it in place.

The brush motor seems to be jammed with hair, I can't figure out how to clean it out. Can it be disassembled and cleaned?

depends onn make and model of vacuum. Most brushes are belt driven and not linked to a motor. For hair around the brush bristles carefully cut along the length of the brush roller taking care not to cut any of the bristles, then pull them off. Some makes have a releasable base to make this easier, these have several large plastic screws that turn with a coin. Hope this helps

My brush is not turning and the belt is on the motor. I think the belt motor may be bad due to excessive dog hair. How do I get to the motor?

I had one melt the plastic around the bearings on the brush. you might try taking out the brush first, getting to the motor you'll have to take it completely apart.

Brushes won't rotate on hoover steam vac. I have removed them and cleaned.

The brushes turn by the airflow from the vacuum suction turning a turbine motor to spin the brushes. First try to spin the brushes by hand. If they won't turn it usually means the brushes are clogged with hair and debris or need replaced or the turbine could be seized up. If the brushes won't spin reach under the brushes and push the little tabs and remove the brush block asssembly from the machine. If the brushes spin freely after you remove them from the machine then that means that most likely the turbine is seized and will need to be repaced. If the turbine is not seized you may simply just have a clogged filter screen. Most steam vacs have a red screen filter either on top or underneath the machine. On the top it is under a little clear plastic cover that you have to pry off before you can pull the screen out to clean it. If it's underneath you can pull it out and clean it.

Hello. I took the sole plate of to clean the brushes on my dyson dc14 however the brush part came out and i put it back in but since then whenever i switch it over to carpet setting it makes this really...

You really need to take the sole plate back off and make sure the belt is running exactly where it's supposed to go and not looped over a piece of plastic or anything. More important is that you make sure the ends of the brush are seated properly and the bearings the brush is mounted to are clean and rotate freely. Look at each component and make sure they are assembled perfectly. Make sure a plastic ring or piece that goes on the end of the brush didn't get dropped under a piece of furniture and you forgot about it. If the problem keeps happening, take the brush and belt back out and carefully turn the machine on to see if it makes the sound. If it doesn't make the sound with the brush out, the problem is with the brush assembly. If it does make the sound, the clutch that turn the brush on and off is damaged and needs to be replaced. You can order a new clutch assembly and replace it without much trouble. They want you to think you can switch between floor and carpet settings all the time but it's really really stressful on that clutch to switch between settings with the motor running. Think about how powerful that motor is. Think about the poor unassuming brush assembly being jerked to life by that powerful motor running at full speed. I've seen that destroy a clutch in about two years. Anyway, it's much better for the life of your dyson to turn the motor off when you switch to carpet mode (when you turn the brushes on). You probably don't have to bother turning off the motor when turning the brushes off, or switching to bare floor mode, because it's not that stressful on the mechanism to just disengage the running motor.

try to clean the filter under the machine or the filter behind the clear plastic, were you see the hypnotic disc sprin that lets you know that the brushes are spinning. To remove : the plastic piece that looks like a triangle, ( were the indicator is that lets you know the brushes are turning ) remove by pulling from top, clean lent from screen and reverse your steps to put back on.

Brushes don't turn

I Had the same problem, The brushes are operated by water pressure. Under the machine were the brushes are is a white peice of plastic pull this out and try cleaning the screen. I found this when I removed the cover and lubricated the gears at the brushes, If that does nto work you will have to remove the turbines and lubricate.

Brush Disassembly Hoover STEAM VAC Owners Manual F9514-900 (F9514900) does not
explain how to take the brush assembly apart. The instructions are as
follows:

Figure 1 shows the key

features. There are two

clear plastic outer pieces

which are held onto the

white inner piece with 3

tabs each. The clear

plastic tabs go underneath

the corresponding white

extended tabs on the white

plastic inner piece.

Figure 2 shows where the

screwdriver is inserted

(flat blade) and gently

pushed down while pulling

the clear plastic outer

piece away from the inner

white piece.

Figure 3 shows assembled

unit. Note extended brush

axle goes in center, which

fits into the female drive

unit on the shampooer.

I used the hose nozzle out

on the lawn to direct high

velocity water stream

trying to get the hair out

of the brushes. Hair and

fuzz remarkably entrained

in brushes, but I got 90% of it out.

Cleaning brush assembly on steamvac

Yes this does come apart. The clear plastic pieces clip into the black plastic piece, flat tip screw driver inserted into the gap can release the clips and allow for cleaning.
