Question about Motorola Mobility RAZR V3

Cleaning flex cable on Razr

I read the post for fixing a blank screen. I removed the 2 screws using a Torx 6 and now I am unsure what piece should come loose? I don't want to break anything but should the whole back end come off (where the Sim card goes) and do I need to remove any other screws?

The FLEX cable doesn't ever need to be cleaned. If your screen became blank it's probably because (among other things) the flex cable IS broken, not dirty.

well pop the back off ,remove the battery.then there are 2 screws that hold the modem in place.remove them and very carefully pry the modem off.there are 2 plastic tabs near the bottom of the phone 1 on each side.careful or they will break.`then there are 4 screws on each side of the screen, when opened..they are under little rubber pucks.remove them and separate the 2 half's..Unplug the flex cable from the screen and carefully remove the screen and camera assembly.be carefully not to tear off the flex cables that hold the 3 buttons on the screen in..then if you'll turn the phone back over.where the battery goes in on the hinge .you'll see another screw.remove that and flip the phone over again.carefully pop the chrome hinge pin out.then you'll be able to separate the 2 half's.then there are 6 little metal tabs that hold the keyboard in place.pry them up and carefully remove the keyboard and flex cable.careful around the hinge, where the flex cable runs threw.
now moving on to the modem, on the bottom you'll see 2 little plastic tabs carefully open them and remove the brass retaining wire and the modem will then come out..get your new covers and reverse this process and you'll be good to go.

Motorola RAZR V3 LCD SCREEN went blank - black screen

The LCD flex connector is very sensitive. 4/5 of the RAZR screens I see go out are due to a loose flex connection. It's super easy to fix it. Take off the battery door. There are two T6 screws. Take them out and pop off the bottom of the phone. There are two flex cables: one for the keypad, the other for the screen. Connect the flat cable (screen cable) first. Then connect the bent (keypad) cable. Put back together. Voila.

Honestly, it sounds like the Keypad Flex, or Keymat with Flex cable has been exposed to moisture. I would recommend taking it or sending it to a service center, but if you want to try yourself... here are some instructions to help you get moisture corrosion out of the phone.

I'm betting if you open it up, you will find corrosion in the main cable channel on the mother board as well as on the end of the cable itself.

I work a repair center and perform the functions below daily, but you must understand that you open the phone at your own risk.

With a T6 torx screwdriver, remove the two screws you will see under the battery cover towards the bottom of the phone. Once the screws are removed, gently lift up where the battery contact terminals are, GENTLY. The main flex bends and plugs into the board right there. With a small flat tip screwdriver, unplug the main flex from the motherboard. Once this is unplugged, work that back piece slowly until it comes off. The main motherboard will come with it.

I would just about bet you will see some corrosion where the main flex plugs into the board. Use some rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush to clean both the plug and the end of the main flex. Let dry completely, reassemble and see what you get.

You may also have some corrosion in the top 1/2. You can get into it by removing the 4 rubber bushings at each corner around the main inner lcd, and then remove the 4 T5 torx screws. Once the screws are removed, close the phone and hold it looking at the outside screen with the camera on top. Start working the outer cover off at the top by the camera lens. With the screws out, it is just snapped on.

Once that outer cover is off, you will see upper plug for the main flex on the upper left. Unplug this and clean the plug and the end of the flex the same way, rubbing alcohol and toothbrush.

Preferably 91% rubbing alcohol because it evaporates cleaner.

If this isn't something you want to try yourself, I recommend Wireless Unlimited - Cell phone and computer repair.

Please send me the solution.. I have the same problem

This is a common problem, it has to do with the keypad flex. either the connector on the top part of your phone is unpluged or your flex is damaged. Open the top of the phone where the screen is at (4 torx screws) genlty remove the cover. you will see two connectors, one that goes to the camera, the other is the one you want. genlty pry it off upwards, I would also clean it with some IPA (rubbing alcohol) and a brush, re-connect it pushing down firmly, you will fill it when it connects. if it doesnt work, you can purchase a new flex

Blank screen

this happens either when u r razr was dropped or have gotten wet...If it fell u need to remove the four screws on the screen and pry the cover off with a possibly thin knife. The flex cable is located at the top left hand side of the screen. you need to take this off and reseat it again.try powering on the phone before u close it back again to ensure that it works. If this doesn't work either your screen or flex cable is gone, then u need to check a phone repair shop.you need either a t6 or a t4 screw driver set to remove the four screws located under the the 4 rubber fillers on the inner screen.

Screen went blank

There is something you can try. Using a Torx 6 driver, remove the two screws located beneath the battery. Gently pry the plastic cover loose. There will be a flex cable connecting it to the other portion of the phone. Gently disconnect it. Using 99.5% isopropyl alcohol and a soft bristled brush clean the connectors on both the cable and the circuit board. Reseat the connector and reassemble the phone. If this does not work the flex cable or LCD may need to be replaced.
