Blackberry took a swim-- Microphone out of commission. Anyone completed a self repair?
Hi, So as was stated--- washed my blackberry on a full washing machine cycle! The phone turns on and works after 3 days of drying.
My problem is the microphone is shot. Noone can hear me unless I yell into the port. I can use a headset but I'd rather try and fix the phone myself.
Does anyone know where I could get an 8130 microphone replacement other then buying a whole 'parts phone' on ebay for over 150$? And has anyone gone about doing this repair on their own. Is there anything I should worry about or is it all pretty straightforward, remove the damaged mic and insert the new one?
Thank you, cellphoneer. The one that describes how to replace the screen is the closest they come to talking about the mic. However, it should provide enough info to get the job done. Here is a direct link:
Carefull guys bcoz i did same as they showed in video. person who opened blackberry should have mentioned it that there are more chances of wrecking your microphone Integrated circuit (microphone band) that goes beneath bottom of band case..
Oh no.. and you just bought it! I've decided I need to buy a new phone-- this is too much of a hassle as not only is the mic not working, neither will the battery charge through the phone! It shorts out.. even after taking it to get the rust removed/rust prevention spray. New BB for me :(. At least mine had a longer warranty-full life... So sorry to hear about yours !

Fortunately your phones is not in locked state, if your phone in lock state you must unlock blackberry curve 8520 by typing any password 10 times, it will erase all your data and after your blackberry unlocked you.can setup new password again. But if your A button still didn't work, it seems you have hardware problem and you must bring that blackberry phone to your nearest local phone repair shop.
If the counter is 0/10, the only option you have is to complete the cycle and have it hard reset. This will erase all the information on the device, but after it's completed the erase process, it'll allow you to use the phone again. In the future, try to remember you password.
When the BlackBerry smartphone user attempts to access or open the messages folder from the Home screen, the Uncaught Exception: DSSMA Invalid state error message is displayed.
To resolve this error, you need to perform a hard reset of the BlackBerry smartphone.
If you face the same error even after performing a hard reset of the BlackBerry smartphone, you need to complete the following steps:
1. Back up the BlackBerry smartphone using BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Erase all data and applications from the BlackBerry smartphone.
Restore the backup of the BlackBerry smartphone using BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Hope I helped you.
Thank you for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
First, it is recommended that you should download and install the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager software from: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/contactFormPreload.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22&dl=DA5FB46338C8C0DCB1039F7898184FC5 Once installed, connect your BlackBerry to your computer via the USB sync cable. Open Desktop Manager, and click the Application Loader. On the right, you will see Update your device software. Click the Start Button, and if your BlackBerry is not on the latest Handheld Software, an update will appear. Select the update, and run the install. Be sure to select the option that backs up and restores your data. Once started, do not shut down your computer, or disconnect the USB sync cable as this could damage the device. Once completed, your BlackBerry will restart and you will have the latest version available. This version has been known to correct various issues. If the issue is still present, then it could be hardware related, and may need to be repaired or replaced. I would then suggest contacting your Provider for Hardware Support.
Maybe. I see this is an old post, so it probably wont be looked at. Do not attempt to start it. Let it dry completely. Take the battery off and drive down the road while holding the device can work and did for me. The point is that if there was no power to the device before the wash and you let it completely dry, no moisture, it has a better chance of coming back.
