Your Sony uses a memory stick called Sony Memory Stick Pro which they don't make any more, it was replaced with a smaller card called Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo, go to ebay and buy a adapter called Sony Memory Stick Pro Adapter it is sliver in color with blue color at the end. Once you get ahold of that adapter, you can now buy the new smaller card called Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo and insert it to that adapter, then slide the adapter with the new smaller card into your camera.
I have several older Sony digital camera that I converted to use the newer Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo cards, it works great ! I checked your Sony model on Ebay and you have to scroll down a bit to see those adapters I just mentioned, some sell with the adapter and the newer memory stick already included in the price.
Your Sony camera is designed to use only memory stick PRO DUO with maximum memory 8 GB.
It will not accept other memory cards.
If you have been use memory stick pro duo and still request you to re-insert card. Remove your card and re-insert firmly.
It may be that you actually have the pictures stored on the camera's onboard memory and you may have to plug the camera in directly to access the pictures.
Or Sony may have a strange way of accessing the files on the device (they have done the same with their MP3 players), so you may be limited to using their software to get the pictures off the camera (or memory stick).
