It is possible that the auto defrosting is not working. There could be a problem in the timer unit of the fridge which is not switching the timer to heat and defrost after the set time.
Check this out, the fan has freezed up due to the build up of the frost and must be checked for good performance or if damaged.
Check wiring to the timer unit.
Hope this tip helps.

Frezzer not cold enough

Cold originates inside the freezer. TA fan pushes the freezer air into the fresh side. So... if that fan ain't working or ice is built up inside the freezer then the freezer will work but the fresh side will suffer. If you have a defrost problem you could find out real easy. Just unplug it and wait a while (depending on how bad it is iced over you might need to go a few days). Plug her back in and if it works ok for a few weeks but does the same thang again then you have a defrost problem. The defrost system has 3 components defrost timer/control defrost heater and defrost termination thermostat. Why do we need a defrost termination thermostat you say? The defrost length is 21 minutes. if that heating element were to stay on 21 minutes your goose would be cooked instead of defrosted. The termination thermostat is designed to shut down the heater when the temp inside the evaporation compartment reaches 50f. So what goes wrong? Timer hangs up electronic control takes a dump, heater goes bad, Termination thermostat goes bad. Number one component that goes out? Termination thermostat. Look for swelling.

Frozen water on the bottom of frezzer

Hi there, it sounds like the freezer needs to be unplugged and defrosted, now if it does this automatically which some do and the ice water that was frozen goes through a pipe and out through waste water outlet, after it is completely defrosted you should turn down the freezer dial by at least one digit and keep a check on this to make sure that its not over freezing and causing this problem, on some models the automatic defrost does not work as it should , and even when they do work it is not defrosted enough , so do it manually for a perfect job, note that any food that is in the freezer can be wrapped in news papers while the work is been done , they will be well frozen for the time it takes to defrost , you can speedup the defrosting with a bowl or pot of boiling water placed in the bottom of freezer, make sure that the water outlet is not blocked with food debris..
hope this will be of some help to you.

I have a model MTB1956GE Maytag Fridge, Frezzer

Can you feel air moving or hear the fan running in the freezer section? You said the freezer section is freezing well, but is it freezing really hard?

Frezzer is frozen but frig. is not cold

You most likely have a fan or a defrost problem, check freezer fan motor. if operative check for ice on freezer. if freezer is iced defrost manually (and carefully) check the defrost timer and the heater assembly. either could be problem

Fridge had a lot of frost at the back (top fridge/lower freezer), turned it down and it defrosted, however, the freezer doesn't seem to be working properly either. Defrosted it all last night and this am...

It sounds as if the freezer coils and vent stack are frozen solid. This usually requires
removing the back panel in the freezer compartment and defrosting carefully with
a hair dryer. (If this becomes frozen it blocks off the fan/vent that feeds cold air down to
the fresh food compartment) Make sure to unplug unit before servicing as you will need
to unplug the fan to remove the back panel.
While doing this check the defrost termination thermostat (a small device attached to
the tube with two wires coming out of it). The black plastic ones sometimes come apart
and fail.
Once defrosted put everything back together and test.
Hope this helps.

My samsung side by side was working great untill

You have an automatic defrost problem. The refrigerator is not defrosting
Three important parts. It probably is one of these.
Defrost Timer
Defrost thermostat
defrost heater.
The fan is probably fine, but has nothing to do with Defrost
Check the heater continuity and change the heater defrost thermostat
then replace timer if those don't solve it.
