Question about Samsung PCL545R 54" Rear Projection Television

Blinking Check Fan Light Message

My Samsung rear-projection experienced a power outage; when the power came back on, a message box saying check fan light 1 kept blinking and blinking. We took off the back cover; couldn't see anything not working. Finally, we changed the fan 1; no change. Yesterday, the power went out again and now after about 30 seconds, the tv makes a terrible noise from the back and cuts off. The problem is the green and red lights on the front keep blinking and the only way to completely power down is to unplugg it. Is it dead? This TV is 4 years old. It was great until now. Called Samsung; tried to get service. All the service dealers say we live too far out for them to come for a service call. We live about 100 mles from a big city. Thank you for any help with this.

We get a message on the screen that says Check Fan 2 and the manual does not tell how to do that . My husband is very handy and probably can do it if we were given any instructions at all.

I think Fan 2 is the DMD fan Located behind DMd Moduel its the Board mounted in the Middle Just CK all of the Fans, Lamp Fan,Ballast Fan which is a tiny fan on the Ballast board.
When sitting behind the TV on the right hand side is the Lamp Fan Lamp and Ballast board in the Middle is the DM Aluimmium looking box and on the Left handside is the power supply board.

Samsung HLN617w won't turn on

How old is the surge protector you used? Because they only last for so long and can absorb so many surges. I hate to say it but it sounds like your TV sustained a power surge.

My Samsung 50'' DLP msg "Check Fan No. 3"

You can attempt to remove the back cover, but there is a very delicate mirror in the back. I'd just move it away from the wall, used compressed air to clean out the fans, and put everything back together. Just make sure you don't damage the color wheel or light engine.

Error message to check fan #3. Where is it?

If you take the rear of the set off and hold the Interlock Switch on the right side up,Turn "ON" the set and look for three fans, one of them will not be turning. There are two small fans and one large one. The Large Fan is the Lamp cooling fan and the two fans are for cooling the Ballast and the other one is for cooling the DMD chip Heat Sink. The two smaller fans are the same type. The Lamp Fan (Large one) part# is BP31-00024A and the two small fan #s are BP31-00001A. They are all easy to replace.

If a “Check Fan” message appears on the screen:

Take a look at the fans while the unit is on. If a fan is not operating, check the connector to that fan. If the connection is good, replace the fan. If the fan is still not operating you have a problem with one of PCBs.
