Have just installed Windows 7 Ultimate and downloaded/installed the driver for Panasonic DP-C322. After successfully installing, I printed a test page that consisted of 100's of pages, some blank and...

The "test" output should have been one page.

If the printer properly interpreted the data-stream that it received, it _would_ have generated just that one page. However, if the printer is not "interpreting" the data-stream, but instead is printing it, character-for-character, then you could have gotten the mountain of output that you got.

Turn the printer off. Turn the printer on. Try again to print your own, small, "test" page.

Tip

How to troubleshoot printer issues?

<p><b>General Printer Troubleshooting:</b><br /> <ul> <li> Make sure the printer has power and is on-line. If you are using a manual printer sharing device, make sure the switch is set to activate the correct printer.<br /> <li> Turn it off and on again to reinitialize any internal settings that may have gone astray.<br /> <li> Ensure that the tape that seals the cartridge ink port is removed prior to installing the cartridge. <br /> <li> Use the printer's own self-test, according to the manufacturer's recommendation. If it fails, you have verified that the problem is within the printer. If the print head is not moving at all, the transport motor may have failed.<br /> <li> If the printer that you are using is not set as the default printer in Windows or the printer driver is not installed, the printer may print garbled characters. You may also receive errors when you attempt to print from applications.<br /> <li> If the printer passes the self-test, try a test print using the Print Screen capability within DOS. If the Print Screen fails, you know the problem is in the relationship between the printer and the computer. Inspect the cable and the cable connections. Replacing the cable with a known good cable is worth trying since cables are so frequently the source of printer problems. Cables can fail with broken wires, loose or broken pins, or incorrect pin-outs.<br /> <li> If the printer is connected to the computer through an add-in device, remove the add-in device and connect the parallel cable to the printer and then directly to the port on the back of the computer. Some examples of add-in devices are: switchboxes, parallel port scanners, external disk drives, external tape drives, security lock keys, or external CD-ROM drives. Some add-in devices may interfere with proper communications with the printer. Try printing again. If the printer prints successfully, the cable may not have been connected properly, or the add-in device may have been interrupting communication with the printer.<br /> <li> If the combined length of the cables connecting the add-in device and the printer exceeds 10 feet, communication can also be disrupted. In addition, the software that controls some add-in devices may take control of the printer port interfering with any other device attempting to use the same port. In some cases, the software for the add-in device should be disabled or uninstalled. Remove any add-in devices and uninstall the software for those devices, then try printing again.<br /> <li> The message "out of paper" is sometimes erroneously reported when there is plenty of paper, and can indicate a physical problem with the printer.<br /> <li> If the printer port is not properly identified in CMOS, the printer may not function properly and you may receive errors when trying to print. Check your User's Guide on how to enter CMOS. Once in the Setup utility, locate the LPT1 settings. The address setting for the LPT1 port should be 3BCh or 378h depending on what kind of video card you have. The IRQ setting for the port should be 7 and LPT1 should be enabled in order for the printer to print correctly.<br /> <li> If the Print Screen succeeds, the problem may be with your application or its configuration. For example, your application may be set up to direct output to a file instead of the printer, or you might be directing the output to the wrong communications port.<br /> <li> Try connecting a different printer to this computer or try connecting the printer to a different computer and print a test page. If this printer works when connected to another computer, there may be a problem with the port on your PC. If this printer does not work when connected to another computer, there may be a physical problem with the printer. </li></ul>

Paper feed not working properly

1. first check to see if there is any bits and pieces of paper in any place in the paper carriage -- look very carefully in front access and rear access
2. if this is not the problem, then disconnect printer from computer -- turn off printer, unplug power cord, unplug printer cable from printer
3. gain access to paper roller assembly, usually in rear
4. using lint free cloth, dampened with distilled water clean rollers -- read manual to determine direction of rotation (usually clockwise)
5. keep rotating rollers until all is wiped clean of paper dust
6. reassumble and try a test print as your printer manual directs

Printer does not function

Friend,

In most cases this is caused by a faulty driver or a broken printer cable. Please try to print an internal test page to ensure the printer itself is working properly, then replace the cable and ensure the driver is pointing to the right port if the internal test page prints properly. Also you could try to print the driver's test page (driver properties > Print test page > answer "Yes" anyway, since answering "No" only produces a bunch of suggestions that won't help you solve the problem!). If this works, the problem resides somewhere between the driver and the application(s) you're trying to print from.

HP DESKJET380 NOT RESPONDING WHEN CLICK ON PRINT

After sitting in power save mode for a long period of time the printer might not function properly. This happens when the printer is plugged into a surge protector. Unplug from the surge protector and plug directly into the wall power socket.

Step 1:

Please try to print Self test Print from the Printer (without PC ie. remove the USB cable from the PC)

Step 2:
If the Self test Print is Ok, try to connect your printer to PC
and Print Test Page
Go to Start >> Printers and Faxes >> Select your Printer F380
then Right click Properties and Click on "Print Test Page"
If this prints Ok then all the connections you have made are correct
In case, it does not print then please check your USB cable try to change it

Step 3:
You can uninstall your Driver
and install the new driver, to download the driver for F380 All in One Printer Please click the below link
Choose appropriate Operating System
HP F380 All in One Printer Driver

I hope this will resolve your problem
all the best

Printer is printing many weird characters

I had this problem. It was caused by a badly-fitting parallel printer cable. I unplugged the cable at both ends, blew out the dust and re-plugged it. It then worked fine.

If that does not work for you, try cleaning the contacts with electrical contact cleaner. Clean both cable ends, clean the printer socket and clean the PC socket.

Alternatively buy a replacement cable.

Parallel/centronics cables and connectors are far more delicate than USB cables.

HP LaserJet 2430n occasionally prints goblety-gook

ISSUE: When printing from the computer, you receive a line of garbage or all of the printed output comes out on one line. SOLUTION: See the following:
  1. Perform a self-test to be sure that the HP LaserJet printer is functioning properly. If the self-test is not correct, remove all cables and accessories (if any) and print a self-test again. If the self-test is still not correct, service the printer. If the self-test is correct, go to the next step.
  2. Reseat or replace the cable. Check the cable for bends or pressure applied by objects resting on the cable. A faulty cable or cables that do not meet the IEEE-1284 Standard can cause print defects by distorting signals.
