Is there a program you would recommend for capturing pictures off my sony camera (8 yrs old) & grabbing them from the 3 different programs I have on my Gateway xp. I would like to have just one photo program. I am not sure how I ended up spread between 3 different programs. Thanks Sharron

Do you mean a program to download pictures from your camera to the computer? Windows should be able to view your camera as an external drive and you could just drag/drop from the camera to the computer.

Can't you just uninstall 2 of the programs and keep the one you prefer? If the program you prefer does not see all of your photos (the ones already on your computer), you must see where the program you like stores photos, and then move the photos from wherever they are, into that folder.

What program will play this file mov06409_0011.jpg ?

You don't state the model / type of camera which makes it more difficult to find a solution. First, read your manual thoroughly.
are you sure it's a video file ?
You can't open it probably because your computer is looking for a jpeg file type and the file is not of this type, it's possibly a sony movie file type, I don't know what that is, it's possible that a still picture (jpg) has been saved, as well your movie which is elsewhere, as a summary of your video. Usually a jpg file is a single still picture, and in windows this a default recognized type and double clicking on the file will open the picture. I suggest the general way to proceed I to first verify the the file is a movie file, and then either run the file through a type conversion program or jst change the type (file extension, after the dot) to appropriate type and if necessary search thr internet or a program. In the last resort contact Sony.
Search the internet for "sony digital camera file type" and see if any items found solve the problem. Also try the following links

How can i use my web cam

Your Dell Latitude E6400 laptop comes with a built-in webcam at the top of the LCD screen. This camera can take still pictures and record video for use with video messaging. You can access the camera via a software program already installed on the computer. This program can be accessed right from the desktop screen.

1.Turn on your Dell Latitude and click on the "Start" tab on the main desktop screen. A list of options will appear in a drop-down window.
2.Click "Dell Webcam" from the list of options in the window.
3.Click on "Dell Webcam Center" and the program will open. A capture window will appear on screen. Beneath the capture window will be a control panel.
4.Click on the camera icon to take a still photo.
5.Click on the "Record" button to record video with the webcam.
I hope you find it helpful. Best regards.

My 8 year-old Sony Vaio PCV-V200G is very slow; I've heard of Registry & script problems. Also, My Norton AntiVirus protection constantly does background scanning. Could these be the reasons for slow...

Most likely yes. You should uninstall any software that comes by default with the manufacturer. Even better, reinstall your windows so you get all your setting clean.
Then just install window anti virus and you should be fine.

How do I take a picture of my face with my new HP G62-225DX laptop computer? I think I see a built-in camera, but I can't see the special botton to click a picture.

check through My Computer to see if the webcam is listed as a device. If yes, just double-click it and it should have an option to capture an image. You may also try to right-click it to see if it has that option on the menu that will be shown. If none, you'll need a camera software for it. Check if your laptop came with one or at least a CD to install it. Or check the manufacturer's web site to find a downloadable webcam software. Else, you can always try to download other free webcam software on the internet that you can use. You may check out a free trial version at http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html

How do i change the camera on the computer to video instead of picture?

the video mode is only working when you activate it on a recording mode The AMcap from the start all programs does that ..
when you open it from My computer ..all it does is taking picture...
you can also use the recording mode from the windows movie maker (a windows built program present in all programs ) ...and all you have to do is choose import from ...cam ..(webcam) ..
also the video mode is automatically activated when you use it in a instant messaging program like windows live messenger or yahoo messenger ..or skype...in these cases is activated from the program itself..
You can use it in almost al capturing programs ..if you want to make a video capture...but ..either AMcap..(video capture) ..or windows movie maker ...will do the job just fine..

How to activate built in webcam.

When your computer boots up does the small light next to the camera come on for a second of two and goes back off. If it does it means that the camera has been detected by the system. You can check by going to the settings, control panel, system, hardware, device manager, imaging devices and see if the camera is shown in the list. If it is the the computer has configured the camera and this can be confirmed by right clicking on the camera and checking the properties to see what it says.

Unless the notebook came with a program directly associated with the camera, then the actual camera operation will take place in the program that you will be using the camera in like Skype, Yahoo or some other video messaging program, at which time during the configuration you will tell the program what device you want to use for the camera, usually from a drop down list, select your camera and it should start working with the program. In other programs you can use it as a capture device by selecting it as the device to use to capture a picture. Good luck, RAC

Is it possible to retrieve deleted pictures from Sony Camera/Dell Inspiron 530?

Photos can be retrieved from both HDD and camera memory card. To increase chances for successful recovery do it asap without saving or installing anything on PC or taking new photos. You need to install retrieving program (there are many on the web, some of them free). When you launch program, it can take hours till all lost files on HDD are detected. It takes much less time for a memory card on camera. After that you can pick the ones you'd like to be restored.
