You are experiencing a clog of the upper tube. Not outside but inside the tube. Use a paperclip, open an end force it up the tube to clear the deposits and your in business. Remember to do a Full cleaning now and again with vinegar solution. Keep Filter changes at least every 4 to 6 weeks.
you have chosen normal preview 1. change it to thumbnail preview 2. or click on "All" button in normal preview so you would scan multiple negatives.

Does your laptop have hard disk activity? If it does, your display may have a problem. I have a similar compaq presari V3000. And it also didnt work because of my dead hard disk
you can try running ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com/ on your computer, its pretty easy to install and its really neat. its very different from windows however but it works great. best of all its FREE!
of course you can look filesharing sites for copies of Windows XP or Vista (wink wink), but i can't help you with that since its agains't FixYa's piracy policy and i don't want trouble.
There is no adjustment on the m300 v300 m700 v700. These hinges will have to be replaced. I do have a set from an v300 am not sure if they are compatible but you can have them if you want.

I think you might need to change your video viewing software. Try quiktime or Realplayer. If this does not work, look on the net for compatible software so that you can view your movies. Hope this helps.
