Perhaps you check the settings. If the camera is on nightshot, or manual, with a long shutter time or wilde open diafragma your pictures are all overblown, or stripes come from lights. Put the camera in automatic. The main dial on the green camera logo, and try again. If this does not work, Please let me know how the settings are on your camera. Success
You might have a problem with the sensor; Maybe you can test it; try taking photos in brightly to see if it have the same problem. (or using the flash; I suppose taking videos will not have any issues?)
Remember, the A470 is primarily a still camera. The flash is designed to put out a very intense and very brief flash of light for still pictures. It is not intended for video. If you need additional light for video, you'll need a light designed for that. Such a light will consume batteries very quickly, if it isn't plugged in.
The Problem with the Canon PowerShot A470 Digital Camera Is That, where do I start? I took my mum's camera(without her permission!).
And used it at school to take pictures during a Prefect Party I had.
Everything went well till the lens jammed(fully extended) I tried
switching it on and off, but I still got that error message. Click Here To Watch Full Answer
Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.
Press right-arrow (marked with a lightning bolt) to bring up the flash menu. Use left/right-arrow to select the lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it. Full details are in the "Using the Flash" section on page 59 of the manual.
I know nothing about your camera in particular, but these cameras generally speaking automatically switch on flash when they sense low light. Ifthe flash does not fire when shooting brightly scenes then your camera is perfectly alright. I believe it is so. try it outdoors and see for yourself.
