This error indicates that the print-head is not detected, means it is no longer working or it's gone bad or it not seated properly.
Remove the cartridges with the print head and clean them properly. Also clean the contact points on the cartridges. Clean whatever you think should be. Reinstall them and again switch on the machine. Now check whether the light still blinks or not.

Let me know after you done with this. I'll assist you further with different methods.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

According to user manual, this indicates defective print head. The print head had clogged so deep that can not be cleaned in the normal way. The printer can not communicate with the computer at this point. So you can't send the cleaning command to printer.
Here's what to do:
1. remove all the ink cartridges
2. Take out the print head by release the gray lock lever. Look in the "Easy Setup Instruction" Step 3 to find the location. (You can download it from Canon USA web site)
3. Put the print head in a plastic zipper bag. (Test the bag is air tight. I used a Freezer bag)
4. Soak the covered printer head in hot water (hottest setting of the tap) for 5 minutes. The high temperature will soften the clogged ink.
5. Immediately install the head (should still be dry) in the printer, and install all the ink cartridges.
6. Turn on the printer. If this works, you should not have the "7 orange blinking lights". Then you can start the cleaning process from the computer. Run the cleaning several times or deep clean it.

So try that it just may work.

Hi there,

Try to see if there any paper jams. Tiny paper shreds might got stuck in between the rollers that prevent the printer to pull up paper and the sensor detects it. Also, have you tried restarting your printer along with your computer? If not, then please do a restart. Check also if you have enough ink.

    Hi there,

Then the waste pad is probably full of ink. Try to hHold the resume button down until it flashes green once and then let go it will start a short cleaning cycle; do this like 5 times. If it does not work, try the steps below:

While the printer is turned on, open the cover until the print cartridge or carriage goes to the center. Remove the ink cartridge. Take a cotton swab or qtip, damp it in an alcohol and clean the pad where the ink cartridge sits on. It is the Waste Ink Collector. So do this repeatedly until the cotton swab is not able to collect ink from it.

If the process above does not work, then you may need to do a reset. Here's how:

    1) Close the print head cover, and turn off the printer. While pressing
the Resume/Cancel button, press the Power button. (Do not release the
buttons. The LED lights in green to indicate that a function is
    selectable.)

    2) While holding the Power button, release the Resume/Cancel button. (Do not release the Power button.)

    3)
While holding the Power button, press the Resume/Cancel button three
times, and then release the Power and Resume/Cancel buttons. (Each time
the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in
either orange or green, starting with orange.) During initialization,
    the LED blinks in green.

    4) When the LED stops blinking and
lights in green, press the Resume/Cancel button the 4 times. (Each time
the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in
either orange or green, starting with orange.)

    5) Press the Power button. The LED lights in green, and the
selected function is performed. (When the operation completes, the printer returns to the menu selection mode automatically.)

    6) Power off then back on and test.

    Hope this helps.

If there is an awful noise, then look closely for any stuck foreign objects on the rollers. Also, check for any misalignment. Chances are, these causes the rollers to run and triggers the sensor that is why the printer keeps blinking with the led lights, indicating a hardware trouble.

Hp 845c orange light keeps flashing

When the orange light is flashing, either paper jam or ink problem is happening.Try unloaging & reloading the stack of paper in the main tray. Remove & reinsert ink cartridges in the printer. You may also clean the contacts of the cartridge and inside the product.

    Problem on a canon 3100

The Power Light Flashes Orange - Error Codes When an error occurs, the power light flashes orange. The number of orange flashes followed by a long green flash indicates the cause of the problem.
Two orange flashes: Out of paper, paper jam, or paper feed error
If no paper is loaded in the auto sheet feeder, or if the paper is not loaded correctly, set the paper correctly and press the Resume button on the printer to continue printing.
    Three orange flashes: Paper jam
If paper has jammed in the printer, carefully remove the jam and press the Resume button to continue printing.
Four orange flashes: A tank inside the BJ cartridge (print head) is out of ink
Replace the empty BJ tank and press the Resume button to continue printing.
Five orange flashes: BJ cartridge is not installed properly
Remove and reseat the cartridge correctly. Make sure the orange protective cap and tape have been removed. Make sure the blue locking lever is locked down securely.
Six orange flashes: BJ cartridge (printhead) is not installed
Remove and reseat the cartridge correctly. Make sure the orange protective cap and tape have been removed. Make sure the blue locking lever is locked down securely.
Seven orange flashes: BJ cartridge (printhead) is defective
Remove the BJ cartridge and check that the contacts on the cartridge and cartridge holder are clean. Make sure the orange protective cap and tape have been removed and reinstall the cartridge. If the error occurs again after you resume operation, you may need to replace the BJ cartridge.
Eight orange flashes: Waste ink absorber almost full
The printer has a built-in waste ink absorber to hold the ink that is consumed during print head cleaning. This error indicates that the waste ink absorber is nearly full. Press the Resume button to skip the error so you can continue printing.
The POWER light flashes orange and green alternately: Service error
A service error means the printer requires the attention of a qualified technician. Count the number of flashes. (You may be asked this information.)

There are 2 lights, one green and one orange.

If the green one blinks, there's no problem (As says on the manual it blinks cuz is preparin to print)

If the Orange one blinks There are 2 problems:
    a) Paper Jam
    b) No Paper or Paper Sensor Trapped.

Just keep reading th Owner's Manual and Say somethign if there are no solution.

    Orange lights (3)

Three orange flashes between green indicates a paper jam on this model. Look closely in the paper feed area and the paper exit area for any torn scraps of paper. Also open the top and check in the platen area (where the print head moves back and forth). If you don't see anything, it's possible that a sensor has broken or gone bad.
