Question about Bissell 7920 ProHeat Pro-Tech Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum

1 Answer

Bissell 7920 not dispensing all of a sudden

Okay, so my friends powered this cleaner and in the midst of using it "it just stopped working." I got it back from them and found that it was clogged in many places full of dog hair. (Apparently, they didn't vaccum the carpet before they tried to clean it. I yi yi!)

Anyway, I cleared it of all hair/jams, I replaced the pump, and the belts, and water sprayed for about 10 seconds and then quit again on me.It IS pulling water from at least one area...but most of it is "dribbling" into the bottom half of the machine NOT onto the carpet.

There ARE bubbles in the lines, so I did my best to fill the lines with more liquid...in case air was causing a problem...still no resolution.

I cleaned out the heater as suggested on here also and no, the hand tool doesn't spray either. Any other suggestions?

I'm really frustrated but still think it must be something "easy" and would be ********** to have bought new parts, worked on it, and then take it to a repair shop and spend a lot of money on something still pretty simple.

You could have a pinched line. When you put the top back on, the piston should have been on the bottom of the smart mix valve and in the water only setting. The heater could be plugged, which is in the handle. If water sprays out of the tool hose, then the heatr or line in the handle is clogged. Is the gasket on the water and the soap bottle on the valve at the bottom, it has to be on it not sitting in the hole.Is the top secured all of the way around, sometimes the back will back free and rise up causing problems. Spray nozzles are clogged. Try running a mix of vinegar and water to see if it will unclog it.

First check your user's guide for filter cleaning. There are two filters both small that need cleaning after each use. If that didn't clear it up call Bissell Consumer Care at 1-800-237-7691

When it doesn't dispense water or solution that means that the pump belt needs to be replaced. You can get a replacement and view the manual here:

Bissell power shoot carpet cleaner

It sounds like the heater may be plugged. This is a problem for an experienced technician. The heater is located in the handle and they are prone to plugging at the tubing connections. The heater is heating soap and water solution and this can cause the soap to coagulate and plug the lines. It must be addressed carefully to avoid damaging the heater.
