Frigidaire electric range fef326ab bought in Oct 2005
heating element sparked while baking and now there is a hole in element, what could have caused this and could it be fixed, or will i have to buy new range?
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR APPLIANCE before beginning any service procedure.
To the best of my knowledge you can replace the heating element with a genuine part from Frigidaire, this happened to me on my water heater and the element just got old and too hot and it just popped and left one to three holes in the element and I just replaced it. I would have it done by an appliance specialist or your local appliance repair person. When ordering the part remember to give the Brand name, Model # and they might ask for the Serial #. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local appliance dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hello G Rego - The range may be reset by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes, turn on the range and select bake or broil option. Should all troubleshooting measures fail, I would strongly recommend consulting a professional to move forward accurately. The range could possibly be experiencing a wiring failure, EOC (electronic oven control), sensor probe and/or faulty element(s). You can often local service providers by visiting the manufacturer website.
