direct ( meaning using a wired connection ) .
Using the LAN Cable provided ( included on your Modem ).

First to be sure that this is not a malfunction of the internet explorer..and if you know that the connectivity used to work until recently ..install another browser and see if it connects you ..
here is the download link for Mozilla Firefox..which is a program similar with internet explorer..
Just download ...on desktop ..and try to install it ..
If it works on mozila ..than the explorer is issued and you need to reinstall it ..or go to control panel and uninstall the explorer 8 to 7 or 6 ..Practically by uninstalling the updates you roll it back to the original one ..
If it will not work with this new browser ..than means that the connectivity is issued..and you will need to see if the lan card is installed proper..
I assumed that you have windows 7 if you bought it recently ..and I will link the lan card driver to reinstall it ..cause if it has the wrong driver or non at all..it will not connect even if the modem is connected normal and functional ..
to see if the lan card is to blame ..go to device manager by right click on the my computer icon ..than properties..and hardware ..and device manager ..
In the list look for network ..and see if the cards are all installed ..if there is any issue with one of the cards ..(specially Lan card ..cause I assumed you connect the modem into the local are a connection on the computer ) it will appear in yellow with an ask sign on it ..
in this case extract from the archive the driver I sent you ..and install it ..restart the computer ..go to LAN properties(status) by double click on the 2 monitor icon in the tray system ...and there choose properties..and tcp/Ip protocol ..and choose to assign an IP address automatically ..and OK ..
if all is right ..and the modem is set correctly ..than it should work ..
