Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

Trying to replace a Pioneer radio/CD player on my '99 crown victoria with a new system. Whoever put the Pioneer system in to replace the original factory radio cut the plug wires. I am now faced with finding out what each colored wire from the car goes to so that I can match it up with the new system.

you need to connect the yellow wire coming from your new radio harness to a wire with a constant 12volts even when your car ignition is off.

CD Player and radio stopped working

If the fuse(s) are good....did you replace or run down the battery just before the radio quit? If so, the anti-theft system may have disabled the radio. The owners manual may help with this. If not, call a Ford Dealer and ask the Service Manager about it. There are just too many ways of reseting these, and each model and sometimes identical cars have a different reset procedure.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

On your need for the radio wiring of 99 Ford Explorer and a 96 Ford Crown Victoria, see below wiring scheme:

Confirm with a voltmeter on the +12 and an ohmmeter for speaker continuity.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Will a newer stock cd/radio fit in my 1996 crown

sure thing. If you get it professionally installed they will crop/adjust/change connectors as required and code it for use? also if the previous radio was a factory fitted specially to adapt to the dashboard they now have backing plates to ensure a neat fit and that it looks good on the dash? its worth the bit extra money rather than adopting a d.i.y approach?

I put a radio in my jeep liberty 2002 sport. now my speedometer and reverse lights dont work

Whoever put in your radio must have blown the gauge fuse for the reverse lights/speedometer...just check the fuse box in your car to see if it's blown.

I took a stock radio out of my 1996 crown victoria and i want to put a cd player in it and i want to know if its possible to do that without buying a wiring harness

the purpose of buying a wiring harness is for plug and play. You can do this but you MUST be relatively technically inclined.
If this is done incorrectly, you may destroy your reciever.
My recommendation is to purchase a wiring harness. Less Headaches, and the companys prosper haha.
Hope that was some help :) -Jordon

Ford crown victoria car radio

Hi well if you are english, go to a shop called halfords. All you need to do is purchase a new one.Because generally, audio players with radio, Cd, and tape cassette aren't veery reliable.
In pounds it would be around 100, but in dollars it would be about 200. If youre american, go to and go to orders tab. Type in: "Sony 134 SL". Purchse it if you want to. They accept american credit cards/debit cards. Also if you pay an extra $20 or so dollars, you can have it delivered to america
