Hi, this is what you need to do, you need to logon to your router with a browser, then go to security settings an generate a WAP/WEP "Key" Copy/Paste this key to a notepad document and save it. Then save the Routers settings and reboot the router, and the PC. When at desktop next. You will then attempt to logon to your WiFi network, this time however you will be asked for the "Key" open the notepad document and copy/paste, that number you stored, into the box provided, and NOW you WILL be able to access your WiFi. BUT no-one else will be able to without that "Key".
It is all explained in this manual I have included the link below.
It is under Security settings and it shows you step by step.

No wifi on a cisco SRP527W

Try resetting the Cisco.
CISCO/Linksys -To reset the Linksys back to the default settings - Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of the router with the power ON for 20 secs. then release the RESET button.
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down and put it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.
To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

They keep saying i am keying in the wrong wireless password. Is this the router password or am i suppose to find another one. please help

My Linksys wireless router uses a different password to setup a wireless connection with the SSID (wireless account name) than the password for logging into the router for administrative purposes.

So I suspect you need a different password. However, without knowing which make/model of router you have, I can't help you identify where to find the information for your wireless setup.

Please add a comment with your router information for additional assistance.

I hope this helps.

I am trying to get my smartphone to use my wifi network but says locked or secured with wep. i dont know how to find that. i am using linksys wireless. help please

You need to log on to Linksys router to find the password or you can use with no password by resetting the router.
To get on to Linksys router connect the router to your computer with ethernet cable using one of the LAN ports on the router. Open a web browser on your computer and type 192.168.1.1. That will ask you a user ID and password. Leave the user id blank and type admin in password section. Once you are on router open page click on wireless and then security which will take you to router wireless password. Type that password on your smartphone to get internet access on smart phone! Good luck!!

My wii will not connect to my linksys wireless router

Is it a new router? Your Linksys WRT120N needs resetting. Reset the Linksys router & reconfigure as per your requirement. I had two such routers giving trouble for the WiFi connectivity & which were new. You will be able to connect your router.

Can not connect ipad to router

If your Linksys wireless router is already setup with a wireless network, do the following to connect the ipad to the network:

Tap the Settings icon on the home screen of the iPad. Go to General, then Wifi. Once in the wifi section, you should see available wireless networks. Choose the network that is setup on the Linksys and connect to it. Enter the password if you have one set on the wireless network and tap join.

If your linksys is not setup with a wireless network, consult the manual for it to configure it properly.
