Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I bought a 2GB DDR3 board with a gold colored metal cover. Should this be removed when I install the memory? No mention is made in the instructions about this metal cover and the tag says "warranty void if removed." The gold cover appears to be glued onto the memory board!

they must be in spec,.

240pin DDR3 DIMM 800MHz Memory
low density only maybe a limit here.
so you want 8GB up
2GB per slot.
there are 3 kinds on voltage alone, low, high and both
then speed,
sure forum factor DDR3 240s
but there are density limits and socket max limits and system max limits
if running windows 7, 32bit its limited to 3.5? GB.
so 8 is a waste there.
if running windows 7, 64bit then it can use full memory.
if the bios allows it
and the Processor MMC chip allows it.
see? there are complex limits on all PCs.
in this case AMD processor.
Athlon II X4
limits on this mobo are.

so what memory did you buy, and from whom.
name make model numbers exactly.

I think its coin Cell bad
or PSU bad , not memory.
if one stick fails its not that stick if
you now are buried in sticks, if all sticks fail in just slot
its not memory prob. its power.
for sure all original stick fail as one.

Maximum Memory: 32GB
Slots: 4
Each memory slot can hold DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 PC3-14900 with a maximum of 16GB kit (8GBx2) per slot.*
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.

Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS.

Depending upon which BIOS make is installed in your computer, 3 beep means RAM fault.
Check the specification of your motherboard for the recommended RAM.
Reseat the RAM nodules in the motherboard.
Remove the RAM and get them tested at your friendly computer repair shop.

2G memory card not working

Hi,

If the original memory card (RAM Stick) is working, then it just means two things; either the 2GB memory card is defective or incompatible with your system. Incompatible means the type is not for your motherboard or the 2GB is more than what your computer can handle. You dont need any drivers for your memory card (RAM).

Try to install a 1GB first and check if it is working. make sure the type (ddr,ddr2,ddr3) is the same as the original and the Bus speed (3200,667,800,etc.) is the same as well to eliminate incompatibility errors.

Hope this helps.

Are OCZ PC3 1333 ddr3 1.65v memory compatible with

Intel's web site for the board has the following:

The Desktop Board supports the following memory:

  • Four 240-pin Double Data Rate 3 (DDR3) SDRAM Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) connectors with gold-plated contacts arranged in two channels
  • 1333/1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM interface
  • Support for single- and dual-channel memory interleaving
  • Unbuffered, non-registered single- or double-sided DIMMs with a voltage rating of less than 1.6 V. Using a DIMM with a voltage rating higher than 1.6 V may damage the processor.
  • Non-ECC DDR3 memory
  • Serial Presence Detect (SPD) memory only
  • Up to 16 GB maximum total system memory
You need to contact TigerDirect and have them change out the memory for sticks that meet the above specs.

Need instructions on how to upgrade to 2GB...

Hello

No , you dont have to backup anything or reinstall anything when you perform a memory upgrade.

Look at the bottom of your laptop , there should be several covers. Consult the laptop manual which ones the memory cover (or just guess they are generally credit card sized/shape). When you have removed the memory cover , there should be a release lever either side of the existing memory module , which you can release and the stick just pops up gently for you to slide out. Then its just a matter of sliding the other one in and clicking the levers into place!
