Question about SmartParts (1DPFSP01) Digital Picture Frame

SPX8E frame turns on but only for about 12 seconds. Not long enough to get into menus and reset factory settings. Is there any way to do that via PC connection?

the desktop software only does picture management, and leaving it unplugged for 24 hrs hasn't fixed the problem.

you have to go in the menu to turn the light sensor off. to do that put a flashlight or bright desk light on the sensor element at 1.5 inches to the right of the menu exit button. that will keep it from shutting off when going into the sensor setup menu to turn that feature off. otherwise use the unit in a bright room all the time. It was meant to shut off when u turn the light off to go to bed.

Hi,
It seems your photo frame got problem in internal sub power supply section that is why it turns off after a while for some reason.
Visual check is required to find out any voltage regulator might stop functioning after heating up, local tv repair shop will help you to rectify problem.
I'm afraid it is not user level fix nor issue can be resolved by resetting it on default factory settings. It sounds hardware problem that turns off photo frame and technician can look in to it.
Thanks.

Correct, that is why diagnosis says photo frame got hardware problem and most probably in sub power supply section on its main board.
A technician can inspect its circuit board to check regulator chips that might got failed and causing problem.

Try turning the unit on in a very brightly lit room. Mine did the same thing and I realized that the light sensor setting (that turns it off in low light) is set to ON by default. I am not sure where the sensor is, but it seemed to work better when I had the back towards the light. Then I was able to get in to the settings menu and turn off the light sensor.

the light sensor is 1.5 inches to the right of the menu/exit button when viewed from the back

I di not think that you can have access from the computer to the settings ..but if it has a manager for it .....the thing to try is to remove any power source from it ..ac adapter ..batteries all...and leave it like that a few minutes..than power it up again and see if the settings that caused that are gone..

Factory reset

In camera settings menu, on the bottom of the screen you find Settings. In Settings is the only reset the camera knows. You only will reset the menus and shooting options. Date, time, language and video output settings are not reset.
If your camera has serious trouble, accessing menus or something like that, there is nothing like pressing a button for several seconds and everything will be ok. (not in the manual)

Reset printer

Please print printer settings configuration page. The page will explain the printer menus and change values. Menus are represented by Continue, Ready/Data, Toner Low and Load/Remove Paper light sequences. Menu Items and their values are indicated by Paper Jam and Error Light sequences

Here are the instructions to do that:

1. Turn off the printer.

2. Open the front access cover

3. Press and hold the red Stop button while powering up the printer.

4. The lights should cycle, release it when the light stops cycling.

5. Close the cover once the ! light displays

6. The lights should cycle again.

7. Then press the Continue button.

8. This should print a Printer Diagnostics page.

9. On the Printer diagnostic page, Use the Utilities menu to troubleshoot printer problems

- Return the printer settings to factory default values.

- Sometimes resetting the printer to the original settings solves formatting problems.

- All menu items are reset to the factory default values except:

- All settings in the Parallel menu, Network menu, and USB menu.

- All downloaded resources (fonts, macros, and symbol sets) in printer memory (RAM) are deleted.

- Resources in flash memory are unaffected.

10. Please locate the value that would say "Factory Defaults".

11. We would need to follow the exact light sequence that you see for the "Factory Defaults".

12. Press and release the Cancel button to advance through the menus and the menu items to the one we would need.

13. Press and hold the Continue button until all the lights cycle to save the function/value.

14. Restart the printer.

The application is locked

Are you locked out of your router? If so put a pin in the reset switch and unplug the router for 12 seconds while keeping the reset button pushed in. After 12 seconds plug it back in and when lights start to turn on release the reset button. It should be back to factory settings.

Can't transfer music (audio) to the Frame

Make sure the music is in the correct file format for the frame. Some frames take MP3, others take WMA. If the format that you have is not compatible, you must convert it or the frame will not read it.

I would like to know how to reset the settings on the SPX08 smartparts digital frame. It currently only turns on for approximately 5 seconds and then automatically turns off. Thanks.

I had the same problem with an SPX08E. It turned out that enabling the auto light sensor was the cause!

The way I fixed it was to remove all memory cards and attach the frame via USB to a PC. Then use windows explorer to delete all folders and files on the frame other than the smartpix installer MSI. Then remove the USB and power cycle the frame. It will come up at the main menu and you then have about 15 secs to navigate to the settings page, scroll down to the reset settings tab and reset all settings to defaults. You can then transfer any pictures you want back to internal memory.

Do not turn on the light sensor or you will have to do it all over again!
