There's a latch of the rear-top, just hold and press (as you open and car door), the case will fling out.
You can refer to this video... (not the exact model, but more or less similar)
I hope you know how to replace the CD-Rom drive. If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I am sorry, I didn't include which model exactly it is that you have. There are several designs with this same model. I attach some photos :

If you are still having problem, let me know with the exact model, if possible upload a photo.

    Thanks a lot.

Is it possible to take some pictures of it and upload it here? I can't assume myself which model exactly it is. If it's possible, that'll be very appreciated.

  1. If you are installing a new drive:

    1. Press the two snaps on the top of the drive-panel insert and rotate the insert toward the front of the computer.

    1. Remove the three shoulder screws from the drive-panel insert.

  2. If you are replacing an existing drive:

    1. Remove the three shoulder screws from the existing drive.

    2. Insert the three shoulder screws into the sides of the new drive and tighten them.

Dell Optiplex gX520 will not boot beyond the splash screen. Dell Optiplex gX520 will not boot beyond the splash screen. There are not post code beeps. The lights on the front panel are 1 and 4. Both are...

Sounds like you may have multiple problems. Suggest trying to eliminate possible causes by removing components. Remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged. Remove the components one at a time and see if the LED's change.

I am trying to change booting sequeance from BIOS for reinstal windows to CD Rom. but system in not getting start from ROM.

In order to change the boot sequence on a Dell computer you have to press the F12 key right after the computer starts and BEFORE the Windows logo appears.
You can also choose F2, if you have to get into the BIOS.

On some machines you just have to hold down the respective key, on others you have to tap it repeatedly. Just try it out.
When you see the Windows logo, let the computer complete the start-up, reboot and try again.

Once it is booting from CD/DVD, follow the instructions on the screen ("Press any key to boot from CD...")

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.
