Question about Sony DCR-HC44 DV Digital Camcorder

Open Question

I have an E:61:10 flashing on the lcd screen and I canĀ“t focus . I have called Sony here in Sydney and they tell me that as the camera is out of warranty, (it is 3 years old) I have to take it pay $99 for a diagnosis and the parts for the repair could ascend to $300.00... Is that is? is there anything that I can do? I need to buy another camera I suppose and have been dissapointed with this sony one.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I called Sony, did what they said, and now my camera is working just fine...no more blurry pics. Go to menu, click arrow right, click arrow down 3x till you get to "Setup 1," click arrow right scroll down to "Initialize," click to right, select OK, press center button. This initialized everything back to default settings and now I don't have blurry pictures anymore.

SOURCE: DCR HC-42 LCD screen problem

I have opened my camera and found that the flexible circuit/ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the inside of the camera is broken. This is due to poor design, in which the flexible circuit cannot withstand the constant movement of the LCD.
I have managed to buy a new cable from a Sony repair dealer, and will attempt to fit it later on this week.

The part number for the new flexible cable is:
Ref no. 171
1-864-761-11
FP-185 FLEXIBLE BOARD

if you are interested in how I get on with it, you can mail me at jackstar@ntlworld.com
I won't bother trying to complain to Sony directly, because it is quite apparent that they really couldn't give a toss.

SOURCE: Sony DCR-SR200 screen slowly "scrolls" vertically like the V-Hold on an old television

After researching various flexible cable numbers from different posts, I found that the SR-200 uses a unique cable, FP-610, part number 187145711. This has been discontinued and replace with part number 187145721 (same cable also used in DCR-SR300).

If you are in doubt with your camera, just take it apart up to the point of seeing the ribbon cable. The part number is printed on the side.

I found two sources for this so far, www.nexttronics.com and https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/sony-parts.aspx. Price ranged from $30 to $40 plus shipping.

My camera´s flash doesn´t work :/ and it says E:91:01 what does that mean? can I fix it? or my camera is useless

Hi,

The E:91:XX error code appearing on the Camera screen is due to an Internal Hardware malfunction.
The E:91:01 error code may be due to the issue with the flash unit in the Camera. This can be resolved by checking or replacing the Flash unit.

Before that try the normal troubleshooting steps like power resetting and factory resetting. If the issue persists, it would be better to get the unit serviced at the Sony Authorized service center.

I´ve opened the camera to clean it up

1. You shouldn't have opened it. 2. You probably shorted out the capacitor...lucky you didn't get burned. 3. You need repairs...bring lots of money.

Black LCD and out of focus

My LCD screen has also malfunctioned - some-one else has also posted a similar problem and has been told its to do with a carbon cable connecting the LCD screen to the camera that needs replacing.
Not sure about the viewfinder problem - is there a control to adjust the focus, or is that what you mean by the viewfinder lever?
Go to http://www.sony.co.uk/article/id/1218032872969 to register with sony for repairs.

LCD - Focus

DSLR camera was not made to be used as a point and shoot camera and you cant preview the shot before taking a picture. You are to use the eye piece to focus right. Also before taking a picture, push the exposure button just a little to let the camera focus right.

Olympus Evolt 510 LCD Issue.

I purchased a olympus evolt 510 - having problems taking picture in the dark. The camera will take 30 second to focus and sometimes will not take a picture at all. Also I find when I am in doors the camera will take a substantial amount of time to focus on an object this is specifically when the flash is in use. The flash seems to be adjusting flickering constantly. Seriously Annoying.

If you can be some assistance I would deeply appreciate it.

Best,

JP

Cybershot H7 focus problem

Things to check before you assume it is a mechanical issue-you can get vibration message if flash is disabled, be sure also that the macro mode is not enabled-this is very common on sony cameras to turn on by accident-flower button on camera will put in close up mode and you will get blur make sure no flower is present on lcd screen-if in macro press button on camera w/flower to turn off-also in menu you have continuous and monitor auto focus settings try changing one or the other and see what happens

Focusing problem

Your camera model was included in the general recall issued last year for the CCD factory defect. Here's a link to the announcement, you can also see a screenshot there for comparison - http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/news-item.pl?mdl=DSCV1&news_id=118 If for some reason sony tells you that it's not the same problem with your camera - it could still be a CCD defect, or the camera's main PCB. Try not to take a no for an answer and get it fixed through sony. Good luck
