I've moved into rented property and 'inherited' a diplomat washer/dryer 8702. The wash cycle is fine but the dryer never starts at end of cycle and I cannot figure out how to put on without going through wash cycle - no instructions were left! Can you help?

Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heatingthe most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glowssometimes it is still not working properly.
if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....
If you have an electric dryer, you can have many differentthings that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

I have the same problem. The half load / drying button is pushed in; the drying time set; I've reduced the load to almost nothing, but it won't dry. I've tried numerous cycles. The clothes spin, but are still damp at the end.
How would I go about checking my lid switch or fixing my clutch, if that's the problem?
set the timer, press the half load wash button, and then turn the dial just before the sun, it will spin for a while and when it actually goes to the sun it will start drying - I just solved this problem after a month and its horribly annoying
I have one of these machines. I don't know whether this will be of any help but I had issues of the machine not activating a final spin and the clothes being left sodden once the cycle had finished. The engineer replaced the PCB module at the rear of the unit which fixed the problem. If your APM 8702 is not even starting I'd guess its a motor problem and time for an expensive repair or new washing machine.
If the drum is not moving: There is something stuck inside your furness blower( could be some pice of cloth). Open the furness and remove the piece and your dryer will be working fine afterwords.
If the Drum is working fine; the coil valve, fuse or the gas ignitor could be the problem; usually repacing the coil valve will fix the problem
