How do I fix the picture

There are two common problems on this model that have very simiar symptoms.
The first problem is known as Convergenvce problem. This is when the colors are not aligned, look 3D, etc. When this occurs the colors wont jump around or look jagged...instead they just look overlapped, warped, 3d, etc...

The second issue which is the one I believe your set has is known as a hyberboard failure....When this happens the tv video will move around...look jagged or scrambled, etc....also...sometimes the TV will shut down....

Both of the above can be repaired with parts or kits from sites like www.TvRepairKits.com

Our samsung HCl4715W tv is all connected right but our picture is scrambled where you see double exposure and the color is off. Can not find our manual. any suggestions?

The problem of your tv is the convergence. Projection tv set has a 3 colors red, blue and green this 3 colors must be properly lined up to look the video normal. When this 3 colors is not properly aligned the video will produce a double image of color or like a 3d or wavy. In order to fix this problem you should adjust it in the menu program of your tv you should move any of the colors to up or down, left or right if you cannot align the 3 colors the problem is the convergence ic it must be replace. To locate the convergence ic you should remove the back cover of your tv but be sure to unplug your tv, you will see this ic attached in a large aluminum plate it has a marking of stk--- and followed by a numbers. or you could contact a service technician do do it for you and save you from stress. Good day and best regards.

Permanent lines of color on the sides of the screen

I don't know what model of tv you have. I am guessing you need to do a convergence alignment. I don't think Sony has an option to do a partial alignment from the standard tv menu. Your best bet is to find a copy of the service manual and look at how to do a convergence alignment or have a service person come over and do it for you.

I have a 52'' Magnavox Projection screen tv and the colors are messed up. The best way to describe it is that it looks like your looking at a 3D movie without the glasses. Can you tell me what's going on?

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

My rca color is off it looks like a 3D movie without the glasses? suggestions

your TV needs realignment.  This is adjusting the red, blue and green lenses in the TV.  This is called "convergence".  On some rear projection TV's this is covered in the owners manual.  It usually consists of a test pattern on the screen and a screwdriver alignment to make all the colors overlap one another.  TV's generally go out of convergence by either being bumped or moved.  Hope this helps.
When you receive advice from this website you have to understand that without the item in front of us, we are only able to provide "a best guess" as to what the problem might be based on you description of the defect.  If you haven't described a clear and precise description of the defect you decrease the chances of an accurate reply.  Thank you.

Colors are out of alignment

There is an alignment mode that you can get to. You must take off the back cover and look for the alignment switch I suggest that a tecnician do this because he has the propper tools and knowledge. If just an allignment is all it needs it should not cost that much. You have to try not to move this type of tv around because it is very sensitive and the slightest bumb can send it out of wach.
