Question about Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Calculator

1 Answer

I'm using the application that simulates tossing a coin a certain amount of time and graphs the frequency that heads and tails come up. I need to make a histogram from it; how can I export/transfer the data into a stat plot?

If you are using the ProbSim application to toss a coin, the histogram is drawn after each set of tosses.

  1. Toss a certain number of times using the +10 or +50 tabs.
  2. To export the data (a big word for just two numbers) stop tossing the coins by pressing the key under the tab [ESC] (the Y= key).
  3. The bottom of the screen will display 5 tabs :[ESC], [TOSS], SET],[DATA], and [TABL].
  4. Press [F5] to activate the [TABL] menu.
  5. Your screen will display a table with 3 columns: TOSS for the toss number, 1 for the result of the toss (Head or Tail), and the last column CumH the cumulative number of Head results.
  6. At the bottom right of the screen you have a menu [GRAPH] above the GRAPH key.
  7. Press the Graph key to execute the Menu graph.
  8. The histogram is drawn.

Spits gas and smokes alot from the tail pipe

Hi Dave,

I appreciate you asking mr to help you with your problem.
However, I am not really certain what you are describing here. Are you saying that you have RAW, UNBURNED FUEL coming out the tailpipe? Or are you saying that there is an excessive amount of LIQUID coming out the tail pipe and you are not really sure WHAT it is?

If the latter is the case, and you have a lot of white steam coming out of the tail pipe, you really need to check your engine coolant level. You could have something like a blown head gasket causing this. A blown head gasket will cause the engine to push engine coolant out the exhaust.

Ti-83 plus silver edition, battery drain, ive

The Texas Instruments TI-83 is a graphing calculator. It's aimed towards math and science students and lets them graph and compare functions, perform data plotting and perform analysis. It has an updateable memory for adding software applications. The device comes pre-loaded with applications too. An optional connectivity kit allows you to hook the device up to your computer, and there are also optional slide cases to protect it.
  • Turn on the TI-83. Press the On button.
  • Step 2Adjust the display contrast. Press and release the key marked "2nd" and then press and hold the arrow buttons, which are below and above the yellow half-shaded circle.
  • Step 3Go to the Home Screen. You can do this from anywhere. Just press the button marked 2nd and then Quit.
  • Step 4Perform a sample calculation to get the hang of how to use the device: Model flipping a coin 10 times. Track how many of those coin flips end up in a heads result and you want to do this simulation ten times. Press Math and the left arrow which will bring up the MATH PRB menu.

I was exploring the APPS key, ended up at the coin toss, and cannot figure out how to exit, turn off, etc. HELP!

    1. Press [Y=] (Esc) meaning Escape to return to menu.
    2. But before, the calculator will ask you whether you want to clear all trials from memory.
    3. Answer [Y=] (Yes). You will be returned to the Probability Simulation List of simulations.
    4. Press [GRAPH](Quit).
    5. You will be prompted again if you want to quit.
    6. Answer [Y=] (Yes).
You might want to explore the RAM to see if the ProbSim App is still stuck in memory. I do not think it will stay loaded, but third-party programs or apps usually remain in memory, and sometimes prevent you from using the calculator the normal way.

My TI--84 plus calculator won't display the 7 graph modes, and it won't graph equations simultaneously. What is wrong? I can only get an arrow icon and an arrow-bar icon.

Use the [Y=] entry screen to enter the functions you want to graph. Make sure that the = sign after Y1, Y2 etc. is highlighted (black). If the = sign is not highlighted the corresponding function will not be drawn. You can can up to 10 functions, but what is the point of drawing so many if they overlap?
Anyway, to change the graph style of the curve for a particular function, use arrows to move to the line, then use left arrow to the bit of line that appears to the left of the Y. Highlight the segment an press ENTER. Each time you press ENTER the style changes to another one. Beware of the unconnected bubble style. During the drawing it will show the position of the point being drawn, but at the end, the whole curve, so to speak, evaporates.
As to simultaneous graphs, if it is important to you to have the graphs drawn for all the curves at the same time, you can enforce that by pressing [MODE], and using down arrow to reach the 6th line Sequential Simul. Use the right arrow to highlight Simul and press ENTER.
Whether drawn sequentially or simultaneously, all graphs will be displayed, except for the ones with the unconnected bubble as style.

    Hope it helps.

Two graphs at the same time

Here is one particulat gase where two graphs are executed simultaneously, yet you see one, but bo the other.84fef70.jpg When graphs are being executed the one for tan(x) is displayed as a bubble that outlines the variation of the tangente. But at the end, it evaporates, leaving only the sine function.

If their fair coins are tossed, find the probabaility that 1)one tail 2)2 heads 3)atleast 3 head

Th odds on the next toss and evert toss will always be 50/50. Odds do not chance due to  previous results. If you toss 1,00o times and get heads every time the offgs on the next toss would stil be 50/50.
