Question about Frigidaire Ovens

Open Question

My Frigidaire gas oven model FGFL67DCF produces a gas-like odor when cooking and stings my eyes. Is this a gas leak (i.e. is it going to explode or create a fire hazard)? Is it carbon monoxide from improper burning?

SOURCE: gas oven won't heat

You most likely have a defective oven bake ignitor.  Call an experienced tecnician.

SOURCE: Frigidaire Gas Oven

The igniter needs to be replaced. I had the exact same thing happen to my oven. The igniter would glow, but after tested, it did not have enough amperage to actually ignite the gas, so the gas kept running with no ignition. You can get a replacement at an appliance parts store. If you have a friend or relative who is a heating/air conditioning repairperson they can test your current igniter. Good luck!

SOURCE: oven will not light. it is a frigidaire model #

When the bake igniter becomes weak or burns out, your oven will not bake. The bake igniter is usually mounted on the oven burner. It's about 1 inch by 4-8 inches (depending on the model), and comes in round or flat styles. If you don't see the igniter glow at all, it's probably burned out. Replace the igniter if found defective. Note: one of the exceptions could be that your oven is set to automatic mode instead of manual. If this is the case, set your oven to manual mode and check again.

If the bake igniter glows red and not bright yellow or white, it is probably because it is too weak. When this happens, the safety valve will not let the gas out into the oven burner. A weak igniter must be replaced.

A faulty igniter is probably the most common cause, however there are others:

  1. Defective thermostat
  2. Defective selector switch
  3. Defective gas safety valve
  4. Defective gas valve coils

Have a frigidaire gas stove has worked great for 6 years. Now we are getting a strong smell of gas when it is heating up or cooking. Have checked to make sure flame is on and it is. It also seams like it...

Try changing out the regulator for the stove. Does the flame seem weaker than it used to? If so, your regulator is probably going out and the gas you smell is the residual leaking out when the stove is on.

Frigidaire gas oven - model FGF366AWA - doesn't get hot inside

Hi,
Yes it could be the thermostat, but what you need to find out and it is difficult to do, is determine what is cutting your gas back off.
The thermostat could be doing that but the most likely cause is the ignitor.

The amount of electric going through hte ignitor is what tells the gas valve to stay on. When the ignitor gets old it does not pull enough power anymore. The the burner lights for a bit and then cuts out before it should giving you some heat but not enough. It just sits there and cycles...

You can find parts for your unit by doing a search for “appliance parts”.
Once you get the results of the search, pick a site and when it comes up it will usually ask for the model number of your unit.
Enter your model number and you will then get a page with exploded views and a parts menu.
Find the part you need and then order it.
Check a few different sites to be sure that you are getting the best pricing.
Most sites can have the part to you in a couple of days.
I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

When I turned on my frigidaire oven today I smelled a strong odor of gas, I never smelled that before. The oven is about 6 years old.

Have it checked immediately for a leaking gas line in your oven. The situation is very dangerous, gas accu-
mulation can explode and cause fire. Get is touch
for a technician immediately.

My oven will not light and there does not seem to be any gas going to the burner.

its probably your thermocouple an older one you'll see the pilot light/on newer models after it fires theres a flame sensor eye to distinguish that theres a flame and to continue to supply gas,if no flame is detected the gas valve is shut off for safety, the flame sensor eye could be defective or dirty also
