We have a whirlpool side by side model # ED25PWXAN00 It suddenly is not cooling as it should in both the refrigeration side and the freezer. Also the housing between the two compartments feels very hot to touch. Any ideas?

That could be the compressor relay. With age they will tend to fall apartThe fan motor by the compressor is what I would next check. It dies and the cooling will suffer. Give it a hoovering while you are poking around under there. If all of that turns out to be kosher I would look for ice and frost on the backsides of the freezer. It kills the circuit to the coils when it gets warm enough to melt the frost which is 50f. It is supposed to have continuity when the temp reaches around 25f.
