Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV900 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

When switched off, my trv900 has just started popping open the door to the tape compartment (whether or not a tape is in it). The only way to prevent this is to remove the battery or take away the mains power. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Cam gear in mechanism would be broken and causing that problem.
Camera will take apart in detail and it is qualified tech job to fix it, take it in local camera repair shop for fix as it is not user level repair.

At the driver side junction box (DSJB), check the 10A FUEL OPN fuse which is the source of power for the fuel door. The power is applied to the fuel lid opener switch that, when closed, activates the fuel lid opener motor and...POP!

Also at the DSJB, check the 15A ECU-IG fuse which supplies power to BODY ECU 1. At the passenger side junction block, check the 20A P FR DOOR fuse. Next, at engine room relay block 1, check the 10A MPX-B fuse. These three fuses apply to BODY ECU 1 which controls luggage compartment door operation. I replaced the light switch on the subzero 550 and now the frig isn't staying cold. When door is open and I press the switch light goes off so light switch is working.

On sub Zero's this has been a common problem. Pressing with your finger to test isn't good enough. You have to test the switch function, by slowly closing the door to see if the DOOR turns off the lights.
There are so many lights in the food compartment producing so much heat that if the lights are on with the door closed, it will not cool.
When I run into this problem, which is common, I take a thin plastic shim
and tape it on the part of the door that hits the switch. 2" x 3" shim will
work well. If that solves the problem, I put a few drops of crazy glue on the shim and remove the tape a day later.
If the switch has 4 wires to it, the second 2 wires run the fan in the fresh food compartment. You can test that by pressing the switch and listening to see if you can hear the fan in the fresh food compartment start up.

TAPE COMPARTMENT KEEPS POPPING OPEN

I Had The Same Issue And Fixed It :o) I Have A Sony Handycam CCD F-730A 8mm. I put the tape in and close it but it would not load the tape down. It just pop back out. If I took the tape out, it works perfectly and would loaded the tape doc down and close.

1st: I unscrewed and removed the door to the tape. Where the tape can be seen. 2 screws hold it down. Without the tape inside. I Saw a Clear Small Plastic in the inside of the camera where the tape sits on each side. On Both Sides, Left and Right are clear plastic like sensors. They look Like Glass and are small.

2nd: I Cleaned them both with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. It Worked. The tape loaded and worked nicely.

It was strange. If i touched one of the small glass like sensors. the mechanism the loede the tape would not work. When The Glass sensor was blocked by the tape or just by my finger in front of it, it would not load. Very strange.

Cassette Jam

The most frequent cause of this type situation is not having a power source attached, or a depleted battery pack. Once the power source is available, some models require manually unlatching and opening the cassette compartment cover. When the cover is fully open, the videocassette will eject automatically. Please try the following procedures. 1. Attach the power source to the camcorder correctly or use a fully-charged battery pack. 2. Fully-open the cassette compartment cover until it stops while sliding and holding the OPEN/EJECT switch. The videocassette will eject automatically after a few seconds. If the videocassette still will not eject, seek assistance from a Canon Service Facility.
