Make sure the door is closing all the way. Also check the door gasket for rips. It sounds like warm air may be getting in.
I hope this helps you. Please leave feedback.
Thank you.

Black and decker chest freezer on frost in the upper half of the freezer, the other half going down to the bottom is just cold with no frost and also the top of the inner part of the door is making ice.

You may have a leak of refrigerant, you may have a warm air leak when the lid is closed, or you may just need to defrost it manually. use heat ONLY, do NOT poke at the ice or frost with anything

The motor is running, but the freezer is just cool and the ref. is warm. Some osf the lights are on and some are not.

The cooling coils for both the freezer and fresh food sections takes place in the freezer behind the panel. The fan in the freezer blows the air throughout the freezer and into the fresh food side.

First check to make sure the fan is running inside the freezer, you will be able to hear it when you open the freezer door. Then check to make sure the fan on the outside is running. You can tell by pulling off the grille on the bottom front of the refrigerator and feeling air come out on the left side, it should be warm air and not too hot.

If these are okay then look in the freezer behind the food and shelves. Near the bottom of the freezer look for a frost build up on the back panel. If there is a frost build up then you have a defrost problem. If you see a little frost on the panel that means there is a lot behind the panel that is blocking the cool air from flowing.

Let me know what you see and I will help you from there.

The kenmore 20 frostless deep freezer is cold in the lower section of the freezer but the upper half is warm the setting is maxed out. the air that is blowing across the coil appears to be warm. that leads...

The evaporator coil must be lightly frosted from the top to bottom. This proves that all of the r-134a freon is still present in the system. If you visiblely see that it is not (half frosted the other half warm?no frost) then this is a sign that the r-134a freon has leaked out. Another way to determine for sure is to use refrigeration gauges to check the pressure.

let me know what you found then we can take it from there... hope this was helpful

The lower refrigerator section is not cold anymore

check to see if the fan motor in the freezer is running. all the cooling happens in the freezer and the fan is what circulates the cold air down to the refrigerator.. if the fan isnt running ,it could be a bad connection or a bad fan motor..on some models the doors need to be closed before the fan comes on so just push on the door switch to check .if the fan is running then a defrost problem may be the problem.. you mentioned you defrosted the unit. if the auto defrost isnt working, you would notice frost on the back of the freezer. there would be a lot more frost behind that panel that could block the airflow down to the frig. you would have to remove rear panel of freezer to clear all the frost and restore proper airflow..remember to unplug the frig before doing any work..

I have a GE TBX 22Z - just recently, the refrigerator half has almost stopped working. The freezer half works fine - everything stays very cold. The bottom half, however, gets quite warm and has even had...

Push gently on the back wall of your freezer. If you hear a crunching sound resembling snow under foot or dry leaves being stepped on, you have a frost buildup. Your fan may still be working, but your entire refrigerator depends on that fan being able to draw air over those blocked and frosted up coils. The most common cause of this is a dead defrost thermostat. The second and third problems are the defrost timer or defrost heater. Spin your defrost timer (located near your Temperature control, it's in a small hole with no screw in it) till it clicks and check the freezer wall to see if the frost starts to steam and melt. If not, unplug the fridge2_bing.gif, then try disconnecting the defrost thermostat (usually clipped onto the main freezer coil at the top) and join those 2 wires together. Replug and see if the heater starts steaming. If it doesn't it is most likely the timer. The heater is usually the last thing to die, unless your heaters2_bing.gif are encased in glass. In which case a quick visual inspection for decay and separation will pinpoint the problem.

Sheet of ice forms in bottom of freezer

Frost free fidges are supposed to stay frost free because the automatically defrost regularly. When they do this they may drain water down to the bottom of your fridge. Look for a tray that catches this water underneath the unit. Make sure yo keep it emptied. If you live in a very warm climate you may be getting a lot of humidity inside. There may be a switch that you can change for lower moisture.

I have an upright frost free freezer that is not working properly. It seems cold at the bottom and warm at the top. Would this suggest the fan motor needs to be replaced?

Your problem could be in the fan switch which is located someplace on the breaker strip around the door. If you push in on the switch and the fan runs the fan is not the problem. If you have frost on the back wall you may have a problem in the defrost system.
