SOURCE: Furnace not kicking on when thermostat calls for heat

On a call for heat, the 24 volt thermostat sends a signal to the control module. The control module will indicate a call for heat with a light on the control either blinking or remain solid depending upon model. The inducer (exhaust) blower will purge all gasses from the furnace and pressurize a pressure switch. Once the pressure switch tells the module to continue, the electronic ignition will energize and send 120 volts to the igniter. The igniter will glow and you will be able to see it if viewed thru the small inspection port. Once the igniter gets hot enough, it sends a signal to the module opening up the gas valve (24 volts). Either a pilot will come on or the burner tube will ignite then spread the flame to all burners. Lastly a safety sensor will be looking for a certain temperature within a few seconds and the furnace will continue to operate and the room air blower will turn on in a minute or two.

What could go wrong? The unit will not run if there is no signal from the thermostat (bad thermostat or broken wire), the control module does not sense a signal from the thermostat (bad control), the inducer does not energize (bad motor), the pressure switch does not close (blocked vent piping, bad switch, plugged condensate hose), the igniter does not energize (bad control, bad igniter), the gas valve does not open or there is no gas (bad gas valve, broken wire, no gas), the pilot does not light (dirty pilot), the burner does not light (bad burner, plugged orifice, not enough combustion air), the flame does not spread to each burner (bad flame spreader, dirty flame spreader, more bad burners), the flame safety sensor does not detect flame (dirty or bad flame spreader, bad flame sensor, broken wire, bad control), or the room air blower does not energize (bad fan motor, bad control).

SOURCE: Cozy wall furnace (propane) does not respond to

Try jumping the two thermostat wires together to see if the heater starts. If so, replace your thermostat. If not, jump the two terminals where the thermosta twires attach to the furnace. If it starts, you have a bad thermostat wire or connection.

Colman gas furnace wont light

Is it natural gas or propane? If propane, make sure you are not out of gas. Does it have electronic ignition or a manual pilot? if pilot, make sure the pilot flame is still lit and the control knob is turned to the "On" position. If it has electronic ignition, shut off the power to the furnace and then turn it back on and see if resets and lights.

Intertherm gas furnace in mobile home..igniter comes on then nothing tries to fire byrners but nothing

by igniter I assume you mean the thermocoupler. are you turning the control button to run after you light the pilot light? Normally when those furnaces quit it is the thermocoupler that has quit. Get a new one and leave it in the furnace compartment as a spare.

Rv furnace stopped working

Quick call the installer to see if it is still under warranty. There is something wrong if the motor is being replaced every other year. Most of the motors should be lubed with fan turbine oil and not 3 in 1, nor detergent containing oils. If the wrong oil is used, the bearings will go south in 1 to 2 years.

I have a Waterford gas log stove. The pilot light is on and working. The stove won't turn on either when it's called on by the thermostat or when I switch the stove to "on".

You have a bad thermostat is what sounds like when you turn it on yourself there is a electric valve that opens to make work and it is not getting the signal or you have something in the line feeding it.

I have an armstrong air ultra v, the ignitor switch or the blower won't come on, we ran the tank pretty low last year, so i'm not sure if we ran out, but we just filled our tank' any suggestions because...

First make sure that your thermostat is turned to heat and auto settings. Then turn up t-stat to where it should be calling for heat.If nothing happens then make sure you have power to heater, gas valve is turned on and blower compartment door is securely latched. If still nothing turn t-stat to fan on and the blower should come on and run until you shut it off. If it does this then you know that you have power to furnace and that the blower works. After you are sure that you have power then remove thermostat cover from base. If stat wires are connected to front of base then disconnect red and white wires and temporairly touch them together. This should send power to your furnace and start the ingnition cycle. If this works then replace thermostat. The sequence of events in the ignition cycle are t-stat calls for heat, induced draft motor comes on and runs for about 20 seconds, then ignitor comes on and lights pilot, then burner lights for 1-2 mins and then blower comes on. I would start at the t-stst and work my way through it. If I can be of any help please ask. Thank you

My goodman gas furnace is not kicking on. the light on the unit is saying that it should be working but it is not. there is no pilot light, the fan is working the heat is not

If you are not getting any codes from the board, then the furnace is not getting a call for heat from the thermostat. A wire may have come off, the thermostat not properly wired, or a break in the stat wire. On a call for heat, you should have 24vac between W and C on the circuit board. This will let you know if you are getting a call for heat all the way back to the furnace.
