Question about Whirlpool GS6NBEXR Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

When I open and close the side by side doors, immediately thereafter it becomes almost impossible to open either door. I would have to wait a long time before I can open either door again, like if they become glued.

That is actually a good problem to have. It's the door gaskets sealing and there is a vacuum after closing the door. This can happen with good doors and gaskets. At the very least you know warm air is not getting in and keeping your frig running all the time.
I hope this helps. Please leave feedback. Thank you

GE Profile side by side refrigerator. The freezer side started to have leakage and caused frozen ice along the walls & Extreme suction on freezer side.

Not sure on this one, but many freezers draw a vacuum like that for a little while to try to get all of the air and moisture out. Commercial units are designed that way. If Ice is building up, there is most likely an air leak. Check the door gaskets and see if they are sealing up properly.

Black stains on door

If it is inside, it is probably mold growing. Front loaders are much more susceptible to mold growth as they seal up tighter, and we all tend to keep the door closed when it is not in use.
Clean the inner door and bellows surfaces with a 50/50 bleach/water solution, applying liberally, and dump the rest into the tub of the washer. Add 1 more cup of bleach to the tub. Fill all of the dispenser cups with bleach. Run the hottest , longest cycle available with the hottest rinse cycle available. For us, it is the "sanitary" cycle. Run a normal cycle immediately thereafter to flush out residual bleach, and leave the door open. The cleaning along with the air drying will keep the mold from growing, and reduce the odors that these machines are famous for. Leave the door open between loads.

Garage door closes and then opens immediately.

On the back of the motor unit you will find a control 'down force'. Turn this about 1/4 turn and try. This is for the reversing after moving a foot or so. Do not increase this control too much as it affects the safety.

If the door is hitting the floor and then reversing you will need to adjust the 'down limit' which is on the side of the motor unit. It takes a small screwdriver and you need to turn this control in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Some tweaking will be necessary and remember if you run the motor too much a thermal switch will shut it off and you will have to wait 15 to 30 minutes for it to cool. This is normal so you will not be hurting anything.

Off the power, and plug off the switch, and try opening it manually. DO NOT force open it. I don't think it would close back since it has no electricity already.

It is a side-by-side, and difficult to open the doors, esp. the refrig. side after having opened and closed the freezer door.

Hi, this problem are what we called, vacuum (air) lock, it's not a problem, it means that your door are sealing properly, you should wait 2-4 mins, before opening, doors will open normally, if you give it 2-4 mins, if you try to open door immediately after closing, you will get that sort of vacuum lock, what you could do when it's lock, push something flat between door gasket and ref. body, try not to break gasket, you will hear air releasing, wait few seconds and door will open easily. it.s quite normally for ref. door to air lock, especially when you try to re-enter ref. immediately after closing. it will go away after a while, good luck.

Doors extremely hard to open on both refrigerator and freezer

What you have is normal - it is intended to make a tight seal - something similar to pressurizing an airplane.

You should be able to get back in with no problem after about 30 seconds - time it on your watch

And wipe the vaseline off - it is both counter productive and may cause the plastic in your door seals to degrade.
