Are you running Windows? It will not work on a Linux System. (Not sure if it runs on a Mac)

Problem with intalling zune's software

Uninstall all zune software and download and install it again. Possibly a bad download.

Or run error check on your computer then try it again.

Go to my computer, right-click on C: - go to properties- then go to TOOLS tab. Click on Error check - make sure you have both boxe(s) checked to fix errors as they are found then hit start. You will have to restart your computer for this check to happen. Usually takes a a few hours, but recommended to do at least once every few months.

Hope this helps!

Zune sync problems

Hey tybaylock,

If your Zune "locks up" while syncing to your computer, there are several different things that you may want to try.

First, I'd suggest making sure that you've got the latest firmware updates for your Zune and software updates for your computer. In some cases, updating programs (including Windows itself) can improve performance and may even eliminate recurring problems such as this.

Second, you may wish to check if the files you are attempting to sync have any errors. Normally the easiest way to check files is to play them using the Zune software while the Zune itself is still connected to your computer. If there are any problems with the file or it is damaged in any way, the software should encounter playback issues and may display an error message. Additionally, you can even check the Zune software itself after a failed sync. You should be able to do this by clicking on "Device" and then "Status." Then if you expand the "Not Added" section, you should be presented with more information why the files could not be added to your Zune.

If neither of these suggestions resolve the issue, you may want to check out the article below for more information. Microsoft appears to have some additional suggestions available in through their online support center on how to solve this problem, as well as step-by-step instructions when necessary.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

Error message C00D12F5

well i had this problem and it gave me a really big headache trying unistalling and reinstalling and reseting me zune but nothing worked, So i called up zune support and they gave me a workaround that worked. ill try to explain the best i can since it was a while ago when i fixed that problem.
first go into internet explorer and click on tools tab then on the internet options tab and click on the delete option that says temp files, history ect, then click on the delete all option and apply and hit ok.
Now go into my computer and click on the orgainze tab and then on the folder and serch option and then on the view tab with in that option. Now check the box that says show hidden files and folders and then uncheck the box that says hide protected operating system files(recommended).
and apply and ok then close out everything. Ok then next we go into my computer again and open up your local disk c or what it may be(hard drive). open up program data folder the open up microsoft folder and look for the DRM folder but dont open it. You need to rename that folder to DRMbackup and accept the changes when done.now open up internet explorer gain and go to ZUNE.NET i think you can do it without signing in but you may have to but if it dont work. look for the long rectangular serch box to the right and type in thses numbers 929642 tthen click on the first RED error code link and then an error code page should load up and scroll down to a microsoft link and click onto it and go there and run that update. or try this link http://go.microsoft.com/FWLink?LinkID=34506 then after that close everything out and relog back into zunemarket place and all downloads should work if you followed my instructions. Worked for me. and i was about to put my zune up on ebay and get an Ipod. but glad i called and got a tech support agent that speaked english and knew how to fix the problem, GOOD LUCK

In the zune software click Settings, click software, click GENERAL, and then click CHECK FOR UPDATES.

That should fix it.

Just don't use the software. Click Start > My Computer > find your Zune (will be represented as an additional drive there) > open it and delete, drag and drop songs, video, pictures, etc....
When your done right click on the USB device connected icon in your systray (next to your system clock) and select eject USB device, locate your Zune in the dialog box that appears and when it says it's safe to disconnect, disconnect it.

Zune charging problems, hardware problems

I had a 30g w/same problem. I installed the Zune software from CD. Plugged the Zune into my USB jack and waited hrs for the full screen battery icon to go away. It never did. Here is what I did to fix it. I left the Zune disconnected until its battery drained and the lcd went dark. In this state, pressing the play/pause button, caused the full screen battery icon to appear briefly before the lcd went dark again. With the Zune disconnected from my xp pc, I ran Windows Update in express mode. I have Windows system restore and auto-update turned off and rarely update my pc, so I also took the opportunity to take a manual system check-point (so I could restore from the check-point if an update trashed my pc). I took and installed all the latest Windows updates. When it was done, I had all the latest security updates and IE 7. At this point I went to http://www.zune.net/en-us/products/zunesoftware/download.htm and downloaded the latest Zune software. I installed the Zune software update. I ran the new Zune software on my PC and found the device tab. NOW I connected the Zune to a USB port on the back of my PC. The full screen battery icon appeared on the Zune but nothing appeared in the Zune software. I left it this way for a few minutes. It occurred to me that I might get more power through the USB port if I turned off my other external USB devices, which I did. Within a few minutes, the Zune FINALLY came to life and a Zune splash screen appeared on the device. The device booted and was FINALLY recognized by the Zune software on my PC. Shortly after that I noticed that it already started synchronizing with my PC music collection. I figured it would charge up and download my entire collection (20gig) so I grabbed some sleep for a few hours. When I returned, the PC was asleep too. Unfortunately, the Zune was not charged and had stopped sync'ing. Not to be discouraged, I woke up the PC, exited the Zune software and left the device charging for an hour or so. When I returned, the device was about 80% charged. I quickly disconnected and played my first music video on the device!!!! I reconnected (the Zune software auto-launched) and left it sync'ing and charging for a while longer. When it was 100% charged, I disconnected and have been using it for a few hours. It was a long painfull road to get this thing setup, but it was WELL WORTH IT! I am already a huge fan of this device. In fact, I'm considering passing this one on to my wife so I can get the 80gig. Hang in there, it's worth it!!!!

PS: one sidebar -- I have noticed that the pc software will only sync about 800 songs in a session. I have simply been restarting the sync to get the next session going. At this point, I am fully synchronized and have 4.5 gig free.
