Question about Casa Vieja Probe White Ceiling Fan

1 Answer

Remote Control My Casa Vieja White ceiling fan runs by remote control only. It ran great for a while, but last year, the fan would change speeds, turn off and on on its own, and finally quit working all together. I installed new batteries - no luck - then bought a new remote control from Lamps Plus. That didn't work either, since each remote has to be programed, and this one wasn't. Lamps Plus said they'd get back to me if they could think of a solution. That's been over a year now. Any suggestions?

I had the same issue. I had to replace the remote control reciever located on the fan and that did the trick.

I purchased a Universal Wall Mount Control to operate a current wireless controlled fan with a hand held remote. Why is the wall mount control not operating fan with fans original receiver?

Depending on the age and brand of the fan it could have dip switches on the receiver, the part of the remote control unit that is either up in the canopy of the fan or it may be built into the fan, and the wall control ie transmitter may not be compatible with it. When replacing a remote control unit it is advisable to replace both since it could be either the receiver or transmitter.

I would replace parts. It still is cheaper than a new unit. So get the new control panel and do it yourself and save money. The average life of a dyer is dependant only on when the owner gives up. I just serviced on last week that was 25 years old.

The problem that I see is that there should be no heat when running the air only setting. If you did not miswire anything, then I suspect the control board may have failed. You really need to use a multimeter to troubleshoot the machine so that you can see where the problem lies

go back to the last thing that changed..."as soon as I put the unit back together"...what item may have pinched a wire during re-assembly....not saying it wasn't pinched before you started. I am saying there is a possibility of a wire pinched to chassis...an electrical short.
