The card is inserted into the minipci slot in the bottom of the laptop, there is possibly a wireless lan card in place so you would have to remove it first.
If your not intrested in that, tell me do you hear any beeps from the pc? if you see and hear noting then its possible the motherboard would need to be replaced 100-1000usd
also its possible there is a loose connection or faulty ac adapter. try with another adapter or another battery if possible.

please check on mains chord and plug or even better the plug itself by connecting another lamp to see it flickers meaning something wrong with the AC line in.

I was using my laptop just a few hours ago browsing Facebook, when my laptop just completely shut off instantly, and then wouldn't turn back on... the laptop was plugged in at the time.
The laptop shows no lights or anything indicating the laptop it plugged in like usual, and nothing at all happens when I press the power button.
I have tried plugging the laptop out, taking the battery out and holding the power button for 1 minute and plugging back in with no luck.
Also I should add that for about 2 months now ever since I installed Windows 7 I have been getting the message "Consider replacing your battery" and the battery hasn't been holding much of a charge, maybe 25-30 mins. But I don't know if this is the problem because shouldn't the laptop work as normal when plugged in?
Yes! Is the straight forward answer to that. You can source the jack on line and fix it yourself if you know how to wield a soldering iron and screw driver. Failing that, a computer repair shop can do it easily, but it will cost (of course!) You don't say what model it is, but have a look around here for hints on how to dis-assemble your unit; http://repair4laptop.org/disassembly_acer.html
Are you sure that the power adaptor is working? Does it have any light on the adapter box that informs about it's operation? What usually happens is that the cable going from the adapter to the laptop gets crackled from repetitive bending, either at the plug, or at the box inlet. Inspect if the cable is intact, and if possible, checks if there's a required DC voltage on the plug. Perhaps you might need a new adapter for your laptop.
SOunds to me like the charge board inside the laptop has gone bad. If it will not run off of the mains supply without the battery and will not charge the battery, this is your problem. AS far as where you can get the parts or have it repaired. I am unsure of because I would need the full model and make of the laptop which didn't fit in the listing title bar above If you could send me more info, I would be glad to try to help.
Does not switch on from mains.????????????? PLEASE EXPLAIN..........
Is the laptop lights not coming on when you plug it in? If not refer to the following.
Are you sure that your power plug has not broken loose. You will have to take the laptop apart to find this out. Sometimes the solder joint will come loose. Do not take this laptop apart unless you know what you are doing. The manual can give you step by step directions sometimes. It is not easy to take it apart without breaking the little things. If you do take it apart, take pictures of every step and take notes and even draw picture so you will know where everything goes. You can touch the plug where it is soldered and re-solder the plug. Please be careful. This takes someone with good solder skills to do.
