Model ftw3011kwo washing machine won't work after breaking locking lid piece

Thank you for your inquiry, David Castro!

I understand that your Frigidaire washer is not working after the lid piece became broken. If the lid piece is not latching properly inside of the door latch then your washer is not registering the door is closed and will not start. You may need to have that piece replaced I would recommend having any electrical component replaced by an authorized technician. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

My wm64 hotpoint washer wont spin how can i fix it

There are few possibilities which can cause the no spin problem. The lid switch, agitator couple or motor coupler. First thing to be checked is lid switch. If the lid switch is short or not getting closed, then its the cause of no spin.Check the lid switch on the machine and see if it is broken or bent. The lid switch give the washer a signal that the machine is closed. If the lid switch checks out ok, then its agitator coupler or motor coupler issue. It is composed of 3 pieces and generally costs about $15-20 for the parts. Turn the washer on its side and look between the motor and the transmission. If you see small pieces of plastic and or rubber around the area then thats the problem for sure. --------------- Press the rinse/hold button to see if the machine is paused.
Pull the drain hose out and inspect it for blockages. Remove the drain hose from the machine and look through it.----------------------This are the details to be checked.Thank you for using fixya.

Washer fills with water. agitates, does'nt finish cycle. still full of water.

The most common reason for this problem is the Lid Switch. If the lid is not closed, washer will not go into extract (drain) & then spin cycles. Check the lid to see if the plastic piece that pushes the switch down is broken off. You can simulate "Lid Down" condition by depressing switch with a screwdriver. It's located on the right side of the wash drum / tub. There is an oval slot there & you should hear & feel a click when pressed down. Look directly above that slot on the lid bottom for the plastic piece that is commonly broken off.
If it is, you can apply a temporary fix by wedging something in the slot to depress switch while you order a replacement part.

Operating washer with this interlock defeated can cause severe injury!
Washer will continue to spin with the lid up!

You should use this technique for troubleshooting purposes ONLY!
Please reply if this is NOT your problem and I'll post other causes & solutions for you.

Machine won't shift from rinse to spin cycle

Your lid switch is broken.
Unplug the machine and check with your hand for broken pieces under the lid switch hole.

Replacing this can be really easy.

Washer gets to spin cycle and stop

95% of the time, it is your lid switch.
The part that the lid makes contact with when it is closed (Litle plastic peice)
Depending on your make, Your can put a small pen in the hole and push down to verify if the piece is broken or it may be in the back part of your lid built into the back hinge.
Most local Appliance parts companies can get that part they just need the model and sometimes the serial number.
If you don't have any close you can usually get lid switch from these companies. or

Good Luck!

Kenmore elite not spinning

This issue is caused by:

- Lid open. Be sure the lid is correctly closed
- Lid switch broken. It may need to be replaced.
- Motor broken. QUite expensive repair, the motor needs to be replaced.
- Timer broken.

Check the lid is correctly closed, perhaps the lid switch is having some failures.

The small metal piece on the lid rusted and broke away so now even when the lid of the washing machine is closed, the machine won't start because ti can't detect the lid as closed. What can I do?

You can bypass the switch by jambing something in there and this will allow it to spin with the lid open or closed but please keep the lid closed at all times while washing.

Machine most of the time refuses to go into spin cycle.

Please check your lid switch. If the lid switch is not making proper contact, or is broken, the washer will fill, agitate (some model washers won't), then just stop when it gets to the spin cycle. If this is what you are experiencing, then this could be a quick and easy repair for you.

Try opening and closing the lid. If you don't hear a clicking noise when the lid closes, the lid switch may be bad or loose. It is mounted under the opening of the tub rim on the right-hand side and held in place with two screws. Make sure the lid strike (a small plastic piece) is present on the lid as well. This closes the switch contacts when the lid closes. If the lid switch does not function, the washer will not complete a wash cycle.

If the determine the switch and/or lid strike is broken, carries the parts need. Just type in the model number you provided and you will find the lid switch under the "Top and Cabinet" heading as item #11 (part #3949238). The Lid Strike is under the same heading as item #20 (part #350733).

If you need advice on how to replace the lid switch please post back and let me know.

Kenmore 110.92575110 top load washing machine will fill and agita

This problem is normally attributed to a defective lid switch. If the lid switch is loose or broken the lid is not detected as being closed and the washer will not operate beyond the beginning of the wash cycle. You need to check the switch to see if it has become loose, or if the lid strike as been broken off. NOTE: If your washer is equipped with one, it will be a small plastic piece located on the lid and activates the lid switch when the lid is closed. Get back to me and let me know what you find. I can assist you in locating parts and provide instructions on how to replace the switch if necessary.
