Please let me know the make and model of your printer. You can simply check the communication between printer and computer, by connecting the usb cable (if it's wired, you'll see it on the Printers & Faxes folder), when you connect the printer to the computer, you'll a sound on the speaker or if it's already connected and switched on, just unplug it and check whether you can hear a sound on the speaker or not.

First let me know the Make and Model, and then I'll assist you further. I would also need to know the Operating System installed on your computer.
Thanks.
Awaiting.

First try this resetting method and let me know if this is helpful or not.

    Follow the below instructions:

Remove all the cartridges, clean the contact points

on the cartridges and on the printer using soft brush/cotton dipped in alcohol/acetone /spirit. (Note: Don't touch the print head, it's fragile and you may damage it, it's not repairable)

While the cartridges are kept for drying, do the following:

Turn off the printer -->> Disconnect usb cable, power cord, ethernet cable; -->>remove the papers from the tray -->>open the back panel door (the rear door where you clear paper jam). Also turn off the mains switch which the dc adapter is plugged in. After keeping it Off for about 5 minutes, turn on the printer again with only the power cord connected, keep tapping the cancel button while it boots up and again leave it On for few minutes -->> turn it off -->> connect all the cables -->> again turn it On and keep pressing the power button while it boots up. Now you can install the cartridges. Check the status message. It should work fine now.

    Awaiting the result.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for using FixYa.

Well, try it on another Computer. One more thing you didn't reply yet. Did you hear the usb connection alert sound when you connect it to the computer? Also verify that there's no other usb devices connected on the computer. If possible plug in the usb cable on another usb port of the computer. If there's no problem on another computer and it's detected without any issue then you need to check the cable as well.

I have one more step skipped, please check whether there is pending print queues in the Print Status. [Click Start > Printers and Faxes, and double-click the printer's icon]. If there's anything left on the Print Status, cancel them and restart your computer. [On the Print status windows, click "File" and click "Cancel all documents"].

Let me know after you are done.

    Good luck.

Uninstall all of the software and then reinstall it. If still issues contact Brother tech support for assistance. They are really wonderful and will get you up and running. Your wifi is working so the router is not an issue. Check out your usb cable and try another one or a different usb port on computer.

My Epson Artisan 7-110 keeps trying to print to cassette 2 (small cassette) even when copying A4. A4 paper is loaded in Cassette 1. Why?

If its not a setting problem, it may not be communicating with your computer properly, try turning it off, wait a little while and turn it back on, if that doesn't work delete your printer off your computer and re install it, Is it the default printer on your computer? some times if you run more than one printer from your computer there's a conflict which can make it behave in weird and wonderful ways.

Printer will not communicate with the computer

1. Walk over to the printer and print a test page directly. The procedure for printing a test page will vary from model to model, so you may need to consult the user guide that came with your printer. For most network printers, you can print a test page by navigating the "Information" menu on the control panel and choosing "Print Configuration" from the menu. For many desktop printers, you can print a test page by holding the power button until the page begins to print. If you can print a test page from the printer, but not from the computer, you know there is a communication problem between the printer and the PC.

2. Remove the printer cable from the back of your printer and the back of your computer. After the cable has been removed, carefully put the cable back into place, making sure that the printer cable is tight. If your printer uses a parallel cable, be sure that it is fully seated on the back of the printer and on the computer. If you are using a USB cable for your printer, be sure that the tab is fully seated in the computer, and that the square end of the cable is firmly connected to the printer.

3. Power down the printer, the restart your computer. Click on the "Start" button and choose "Control Panel" from the menu. Double-click the "Printers and Faxes" icon, locate your printer, right-click on it and choose "Properties" from the menu. Click on the "Print Test Page" button to send a test page to your printer.

4. Look at the network card on your network printer to see if there is good communication between the printer and the network. You should see a flashing green light on the network card. If there is no light--or if the light is amber or red--the communication is not happening. To test the network communication, remove the network cable from both the network cable and the network port on the wall, then reseat the cable and check the communication again. If the problem remains, you will need to remove and replace the printer's network card.

Not communicating with computer

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Epson nx400: prints test page; doesn't print other things

If it prints a test page from the printer and not from the computer, then the issue is with the communications from computer to printer. If it is a net work printer, go to the c prompt and to a ip address ping and see if there is any communications.

Need my laptop to communicate wireless to printer

If the printer does not have a built-in network card/print server then there is a couple of ways to do this.
If you have a desktop computer connected to the wireless router with a LAN cable, then connect the printer to the desktop computer and make this printer a shared printer on your network. This means that the desktop computer and printer needs to be on when you want to print from the laptop.
The other way is to purchase a print server, connect the printer to the print server and connect the print server with a LAN cable to the Wireless router.
If you don't have sufficient network ports on the wireless router then you need to purchase a hub. Then connect the hub and wireless router with a LAN cable and then the print server to the hub and other computers to the hub.
Setting up the wireless printing will depend upon which method you want to adopt and I can advise you when further when you are ready.
