I just ahd this problem too. IT ended up that one of the leads had come off the motor inside the housing. In my case it was the black lead going to the brush. Take the top part off you control head, and apply 12v directly to the motor leads that extend down the tube. If the motor doesn't turn, then the problem is in the motor itself.

50 horse 4 stwont go into reverse gear due to shaft problems

the drive shaft just drives a pinion gear in the prop box that drives to gears that spin in opposite directions all the time
by selecting forward with the selector rod , a dog gear is moved forward to mesh with one gear that is turning or moves the other way to engage the other gear that is turning
that is the forward or reverse action for the prop
if you have forward but no reverse the it is not a drive shaft problem but a selector rod adjustment that is not moving the dog far enough to engage the running gear

How do I get it to go into 4WD?

so what are the symptoms.?????????????????
what transmission, A/T or M/T?
you get on the dirt. and shift to 4Hi or 4low (its not for DRY pavement) so... AWD started in 2004, so is not AWD. but PT.
called Part time four wheel drive.
are you getting ready for snow , that it? do say so, as telling the job puts us on the same page...

and 4wd does not engage?
this system is just Part time 4wd,. and is for ice roads or dirt only.
the first test is the transfer case not front axle.
test 1:
when you select 4HI the gear dogs in the transfer case lock.
and not power goes to the front prop shaft,
with all 4 wheels on jack stands this can be felt key off.
or running in 4wd.
key off , and A/T in PARK or 5speed stick in say REVERSE
you can not turn the front prop shaft by hand, in 4H wheels off ground, that means the transfer case is in fact in 4hi.
Ok we now have POWER To the front axle. (following me;/??)
so the front axle locks.
if the front , fails to lock, up, at spec pressure then the part 18 is bad (spec is 4.25 PSI)exactly.
http://www.fixkick.com/axles/04lock.JPG
if on the other hand the pressure is low, then this is bad
part 25 pump i s bad.

easy huh>?

or is the only symptoms just the dash light.
as driving on pavement dry, (no ice) its normal for the dash light to fail. after all you dont belong in 4wd now. lacking ice or dirt.
but if you jack car up in air, sure the light must come one.
the light dont come on until the transfer case fully engages.
and cant if on dry ground and it binds up, as ALL DO.
get on dirt.
shift to 4wd, going dead slow, 1/2"mph slowest possible speed.
this saves DOG DAMAGE. in the box.

no,sorry, the PCM has Zero to do with the manual transfer case.
please say , what fails (besides the useless dash light)
what are you doing?
where is car, what surface are the tires touching?>???
do not drive this car on dry pavement (means no ice)
in PT 4wd.
its not for that. sell car buy 2004 with AWD.
if you know all that, as the operators guide says.
then do the prop shaft test .wheels off ground.
and say what transmission you got here,
i have 4 cars like this all are 5 speed box.

see the dogs here.
see red arrow. see words weak.?
http://www.fixkick.com/tranny/xfr-case/XFRCASEGUTS.jpg

when you shift to 4H, this dog engages and the chain moves.
and the front prop shaft moves with full power.
that is test one, engage this dog and test.
the dogs are the small teeth on gear #29

Sprocket doesn't engage anymore. You can hear it turn on but doesn't move . I was told torque can be adjusted .....how?

on the operator there is either a sensitivity setting for up or down, most likely if you take the cover off of unit you will see a round nylon gear about 4",my guess is,its stripped

I've noticed the starter drive gear does not stay engaged On the E-Drive starter with the flywheel if the engine does not start as in the older Prestolite style starters. Why?

Becausethe starter drive gear disengages after each starting attempt, the engine ismuch easier to hand prop should the battery be too low to provide normalstarting voltage. Though we do not recommend had-propping an engine, it doesoccasionally still happen in the field.

Mini kota wireless saltwater series prop will not turn

If the motor is turning and the shaft is turning and the prop is not, then you may have sheared a pin at the prop. This "pin" is a small piece of metal that is made to shear when under too much pressure so that you don't damage the motor, shaft or prop if the prop hits something that doesn't give. If you can turn the prop freely then this may be your problem.

My GE Dishwasher GSD2030 fills with water, but won't drain. If I slowly move the cycle dial, it makes humming and clicking sounds as if it's trying to engage and start doing something, but it doesn't. Any...

The problem is more than likely something is stuck in the prop. that helps to grind up foods so they can pass thru the pump. Remove your dish racks, take a small screw driver and gently pry the lock out that the sprayer sits in and pull the sprayer up and out. If it has a filter, remove the 1/4 in screw that holds it in and push the lock in and pull the filter up. You will notice 2 screws in a plastic strainer towards the back of the tub. Remove the strainer. You will then see where the water drains.Remove that strainer and feel down in the drain. you will feel the prop. Remove any foreign materials from the drain and from around the prop. Probably a piece of macaroni. lol . Make sure you turn off the breaker before starting any repairs.

Mercury 115 problems

This could me that reverse gear is not fully engaged.Adjustment on the cables is needed.Take the cowlings off. With the motor not running, move the throttle/gear selector into forward and reverse. You will see where the cables move in the engine area.Note which way the cable moves the selector when reverse is selected.Do this next bit from inside the boat.Hook up the flusher to the motor and start it.Select reverse. When you hear the grinding, push the selector by hand in the direction of travel. It should engage the gear fully. You will see the adjustment threads on the control cables.Move to suit.Hope this helps
