I have a Kenmore 500 that shuts off if the load touches the door from the inside or wont start unless I press the door in again after its shut. I'm assuming there is a safety switch the door touches to let...

sounds like the door catch is loose,this is what holds the door shut,when the clothes are spinning they hit the door opening it enough to reset the door switch,there's a metal or plastic tab that goes into the catch,easy to install and part is cheap money

Howdy: If this unit has a selector off switch and will not shut off in "off position" it is the switch. But if the selector is still in a operation mood, the only way too stop the drum is opening the door. Please check - Doug

Usually the only thing that will stop the dryer is to open the door or turn the timer to the off position.

A key symbol has displayed on my panel and the dryer will not work. Not sure what I need to fix. opened door to take out some clothes and now it won't start up againg... beep beep and key shows

the door lock has gone it sounds to me the dryer wont work unless the door is shut so if its not picking that the door is shut then it wont work

More than likely the cycle timer is bad. Have it replaced and that should put you back in business. Hope this helps. Please re-post with up dates. Good luck. Thanks cj2176.

Drum runs continuously

Sounds like you have a shorted relay in the door switch. If you know a good electrician or repair man I'd give them a call.
