Question about Lexmark X5650 ALL-IN-ONE PRINTER

I just set up a new X5650 printer, and after a couple of print jobs, the printer says black and color ink low. I changed to brand new cartridges, and it still says the same thing. What should I do?

    Great job on trying on some new cartridges. Try to do Clean Cartridges on the printer. If problem continues, I suggest you contact Lexmark technical support to further investigate the problem.

    throw the Lexmark in the trash..and never, never, never buy any Lexmark products again..their running a cartridge scam..they quit before they run out of ink and force you to buy new cartridges

Some printer-vendors sell "half-full" ink-cartridges, to get you to _sooner_ buy replacement ink-cartridges.

Also, some printers need to be "told" (via software) that the ink-cartridge has either been replaced or refilled. Your printer could be one of those printers.

Assuming the test print page prints using the black ink, printers have a setting that allows you to select black and white printing. If you need further help you need to include the manufacturer and brand of the printer. If the test page doesn't print the black ink and Since you say you have a full black ink cartridge I would also check that you completely removed the plastic tab/sticker that covered the hole the the inks comes out of and that the ink cartridge is securly installed.

Canon Printer MP250 doesn't want to keep the grayscale ONLY setting.many attempts to use only black ink but it keeps on setting color ink by default. SB001


If you are changing to greyscale before you print, it will only stay there for that print job. You need to go to the printer through the control panel - devices - printer and change it to greyscale. It should stay that way then.

Replaced both cartridges for my Lexmark x5650, but it still gives me ink levels of the lather cartridges. I have unplugged, reinstalled the cartridges, cleaned the cartridges, cleaned the heads, checked...


Make sure they are seated ok. To reset that printer you should unplug it from the wall for a couple of minutes. Make sure you can move the carriage by hand.
You should remove the ink cartirdges and power it off by unplugging then plug it in and turn it on and see if it asks for ink cartridges. Then you put them in and try again.

How can I install black cartridge only without printer stopping me from printing


The Lexmark X5650 printer requires both the black and color cartridges to be inserted in the printer to continue printing. Both cartridges must have ink in them and not empty.

You need to take it a couple steps further after your test print. Sounds like your print heads need cleaning or your cartridge may need aligning. Printer will not print dut to other color cartige. being empty.


The color cartridges print text that appears black by mixing the three primary colors (cyan, magenta, and yellow) to make composite black. To achieve a realistic black, large quantities of colored ink are used. Because black cartridges use much less ink to create a similar shade of black, they print more pages in black than the color cartridge.
If the color cartridges on the printer are next to empty, you will not be able to get perfect prints at all.

Please have the cartridges replaced to do the printing jobs again.

The resulting print quality may not be satisfactory, if printing is continued under this condition.
If either black or color ink cartridge has run out, you can set the printer to continue printing with the other cartridge from the Ink Cartridge Settings on the Maintenance tab of the printer driver.

Black printing morphs into red after black ink cartridge installation


Your printer creates it's black by using ALL the colours together. This effectively gives a very dark purple rather than black.

It sounds like you have a colour cart that is drying up or may be struggling to get enough air into the cartridge. Make sure you have removed any tape over the vent holes if you are using compatible inks. If not then try running a couple cleaning cycles via the button panel/driver.

If you alter the settings in the driver by going into START - PRINTERS AND FAXES and then right click on your 2610 and select PROPERTIES - the changes you make in here will be set as the default settings for each print job.
