It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike" or "Actuator") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. The washer starts in agitation mode. Will not do anything but agitate. Is it Water Level switch that needs to be replaced?

Washers start in fill mode as it requires the level of water set to start the agitator mode.. If your machine goes immediately to agitate then I would think that the agitator control module is failed and needs replacement. have an appliance electrician check it out.

Washer overflows as it agitate

Hello,

The problem is going to be that the water inlet valve is sticking open and thusly needs to be replaced. It could have been a bad water level switch but since its does agitate that tells me that the water level switch is good or it would not agitate and fill at the same time yet if it were the problem it would fill and never start agitating. So that makes it for sure just the water inlet valve thats the problem.

Water level control switch not working. even i set water level to very low it just keeps filling and has overflowed. i am guessing that the switch needs to be replaced.

Hello,

It depending on exactly what your seeing that will determine the problem.

Does your washer start agitating and keep filling?? if yes it does start agitating and the water continuies to fill try disconnectiing the power and if it keeps filling what would be wrong is that the water inlet valve is sticking open and it would need to replaced

If the washer continues to fill and does not start agaitating would be a defective water level switch as you suspect it may be.If ya disconnect the power and it STOPS filling replace the water level(pressure) switch.

The washer turns on, fills with water and starts to agitate...then never stops. It just keeps agitating till I turn off switch. The switch/dial never seems to move.

Its seems to be the complaint of the board. You can locate it beneath the unit but those things are so complicated and can be repaired only by a professional. Sometimes it may be needed to replace it, but in that case, it will be expensive.

Kenmore 80 series washer

you removed the cover ??? cool your looking right at the pump assy remove the 2 clips and release the pump from the motor assy(dont remove the clamps) thers enough room to hold it of to the side, after doin this try starting the machine(it should at least agitate with cover removed.)if it does agitate with no problem stop the machine and reinstall the pump(you may have to manually turn motor shft to correctly align pump. try it again.if it doesnt work now then theres something stuck in the pump(baby sock, bra underwire).
