Question about Whirlpool Dryers

1 Answer

Whirlpool Super Capacity Dryer Front Loader 7kg : Drum does not want to tumble after push-button start. I opened the door and held the door switch in position as if door was closed. Then turn the drum into momentum and then press the start button........ the dryer drum runs without effort as normal, even with full load thereafter (Although it has to be push started, what else can I call it). Then it will run normally for about 50min and stops. You would then have to wait untill it cools down completly before the "jump-start" process must be repeated. If still hot and the start button is pressed....... dead as a door nail until cooled down. Please could you inform me if this might be caused by a faulty start capacitor? Thank you very much in advance. Johann

Got heat just no tumble belt is on

Try holding the door switch and having someone start the dryer. If you spin the drum by hand with the door open and it takes off spinning, you have a bad/jammed motor. 300-400 dollar repair someone else would be better off doing. 4 hours to figure it out. 130 dollar part on the internet.

Drum wont turn.pust start and hear a buzz but drun wont turn

I have found that the switch activated by the door close or turns on the interior light when open on is likely the problem. You may notice that if the door is open and you push the start button, it will buzz. So if the door is closed and you get this buzz when pushing the start button, there is a problem with the door switch. The start button "thinks" the door is open, and therefore not start. The defective door switch needs to be replaced. At least highly likely.

Motor runs, but drum does not turn
1. Broken or slipping belt---replace
2. Loose pulley---tighten pulley on shaft
3. Drum jammed or bearing frozen---check for foreign object & clear it

Wont start... the power comes on but when you push the start button it just beeps like the door is open. can you send me a diagram of the door switch and how to change it

IN order to change the door switch, you must remove the outer door spring that attaches the gasket to the front panel. Of course, disconnect the plug first. There are 2 screws that attach the switch to the front panel, if you remove them, it releases the switch and to access the switch, reach inside between the front panel and remove the 3 quick disconnects and the door switch is then removeable... Use caution when reinstalling the door seal and spring in order to avoid leaks. Good luck!!

Whirlpool Ultimate care ii Dryer wont tumble

If your dryer doesn't tumble, check these:
Belt,
Motor,
Door switch.

Your dryer can't operate at all if the door switch is defective. It's inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
Dryers have a drive belt that turns the clothes drum. If the belt breaks, the drum stops rotating. Then you need to replace the belt, and often the idler pulley, because the pulley tends to wear out at the same time.
If the dryer motor only hums when you press the Start button, the motor may be burned out. Here's how to test the dryer motor:

Remove the belt,
Check for obstructions in the blower fan housing,
Manually rotate the shaft of the motor.

If the motor is very stiff, or impossible to rotate manually, and the blower fan housing is clear, you need to replace the motor.

If the motor rotates freely, run the motor momentarily with the belt removed and the blower in place. If the motor runs fine with the belt removed, there may be a problem with the idler pulley or the clothes drum. Try to rotate the drum by hand. If it is very difficult to move, correct any problem with the rollers or pulley, and then reassemble the dryer and try it again.

Dryer does not tumble, but heats up

Dryers have a drive belt that turns the clothes drum. If the belt breaks, the drum stops rotating. Then you need to replace the belt, and often the idler pulley, because the pulley tends to wear out at the same time.

Click here for a belt installation diagram.

Motor If the dryer motor only hums when you press the Start button, the motor may be burned out. Here's how to test the dryer motor:

  • Remove the belt.

  • Check for obstructions in the blower fan housing.

  • Manually rotate the shaft of the motor.

If the motor hums but doesn't rotate on its own even with the belt removed--yet you can turn it freely by hand--you usually need to replace the motor or the motor start capacitor.

Door switch Your dryer can't operate at all if the door switch is defective. It's inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

if this helps please vote me a fix ya
