Hi i have a dyson - 959bd34.jpg This is the entire assembly that you would need to replace. According to the technician that serviced mine, DC18 is prone to fail in this area due to owner's use or abuse in my case (LOL). He said forcing the handle to stand upright after you finished vacuuming puts a stress on the plastic hook that rotates the valve from floor mode to wand mode. The trick there is when you replace the handle to upright, you have to step down on the wheel to the floor. It cost me $70 to have it replace. Since I still have it on warranty, only the labor is no charge. The damage on my machine I admitted is not workmanship or material defect but improper use of the machine. I hope this helps. Just beware of some Dyson Authorized Service Center that wheel and deal you for something like, the carpet fresh powder caused your machine to clogged and blah blah. You will know if the problem they tell you is not even close to the ones I discussed.

The suction hose does not operate

Dyson no suction in upholstery wand

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most Dyson upright vacuums, DC18 is engineered to divert suction to the hose and wand automatically when it's standing in the upright position. If your DC18 doesn't seem to have suction from the wand when standing upright, you may have a blockage in the hose or wand. Please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide to check for this: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc18/dc18-all-floors/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/no/remove-the-wand-from-hose

It's also a good idea to give the filter a wash - in normal use, this should be done at least once every 3 months as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 horus for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

I'm confident following these steps will resolve the issue. However if you'd like any further guidance from our experts after you've given this a try, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Hi, my Dyson slim does not have any suction in the wand/hose. The vacuum itself works, just not the hose. I have unattached the hose, by unclipping it at the base, to make sure there are no rips or

Your changeover valve arm is more then likely broken or cracked. If so you will have to change out your under carriage assy. it's a pretty big job. I would recommend having an authorized Dyson service center change this for you as pretty much the whole machine will have to come apart. I attached a photo to show you the problem area.

If you need any help feel free to contact me.

My dyson slim has good suction to the wand but won't switch to the floor suction... Help..

Flip the vaccum upside down and if there is a seperate suction hole for the floor accessory try to see if it is clogged. Otherwise a little belt may have slipped of which makes the brissles go around.

Dyson Slim DC 18 all floors has no suction from the beater bar, but works great from the hose.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Its possible that the brush bar is not turning when you release the head into the vacuuming position. Please ensure you complete a full blockage procedure as per your user guide to see if this resolves the problem. If you do not have a copy of the user guide to hand, please visit the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

Alternatively, if you still need some help or advice with your Dyson, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards
Darran

My Dyson dc 18 slim extender wand has NO suction. There is a plastic white cylinder object blocking.

If the floor head has suction and the wand does not, or vice-versa, the white cylinder you are referring to diverts the suction between the floor head and wand. If the flimsy plastic switch used to turn the cylinder is broken, you may need a new under carriage or just set the cylinder to wand or floor manually and use it as a one dimension cleaner. Depending on your ability, perhaps the switch can be purchases and replaced by a DIYer, but the job looks moderately difficult.
